About Me
I grew up with my parents and sister in South London. My parents were hardworking and during the week my sister and I were looked after by au pairs, childminders, family members and friends over the years. We enjoyed our time with each person and it has given me an empathetic insight into what a child needs from a nanny. I was lucky enough to transfer to a Waldorf Steiner school when I was 12 - which was one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. It is a school whose ethos focuses on creative learning, an unhurried childhood and developing independent thinkers. It was here that I first experienced working with children, helping in the kindergarten and teaching kids to read. I have since graduated from University with a degree in History of Art and have gone on to have a career as an art consultant and now have my own company. As I now dictate my own hours, I thought it would be a great time to learn something new and graduated from a level 2 teaching assistant training course. I have since been a part-time nanny and have assisted as a homeschool helper.
My Experience
I have volunteered as a teaching assistant helping in a kindergarten and primary school in Fiji. I would help the younger children learn their numbers and alphabet as well as play games and sing educational songs. I have more recently volunteered at a school in El Salvador, where I taught two 8 year old boys. The school was children led and my role was to assist and faciltate their learning. Lastly, I have also been an after school nanny in London for two wonderful boys, who were 4 and 2 years old. I would cook, clean and play with the children, as well help them with reading or any other homework.
My Qualifications
Level 2 Award in Support Work in Schools & Colleges.
BA Degree in History of Art
My Availability
I am available during the week, during the day and after school. I can also do evenings, but would need to be prearranged as I have dance rehearsals on different nights. I would also be happy to do some weekends if needed.
