In this job I am, spending time with the children and learning about them and their needs. I do this by reading stories, listening to them and playing along side them and guiding them with their play. I also lead circle time where we talk about how we are feeling, what the weather is like and what we would like to do during our days. I help prepare the food and snacks for the children helping them to feed themselves. Along side this I also assist with hygiene meaning washing hands before and after food, after toileting and also washing faces after meal times. I assist with putting the children to sleep for their nap. I also do toilet training with the children and the changing of nappies during the day. Along side this I will get the children ready for school and I will take them to school and make sure they are safe in my car. As a nursery nurse I provide comfort and reassurance to the children when they need it. In this role I am patient, fun and creative. I do lots of different activities with the children.
Teaching assistant, Bishopston comprehensive - 2019-2021

I worked one to one with children and also small groups. I worked in mainstream classes and also in the STF. I provided support for students or small groups and helped them to understand the content better so they were able to complete the assignments. I created trusting relationships with the children as also listened to their problems and advised them where needed.
