Hi, I’m Katie and I am a 3 year primary teaching student at Stranmillis University College. I am an approachable, bubbly and creative person who has a passion for working with children. I have a particular interest in children’s ability to learn through play as well as working with children with special needs and trying to deal with sensory issues.
My Experience
I have previous experience as a one-to-one classroom assistant with a child with autism.
I currently work in a Nursery both within their mainstream setting and special needs nursery. Within this I have worked closely with children with Autism and Down syndrome as well as children who are verbal and non-verbal. Within this nursery I also have gained a lot of experience taking a Montessori to learning.
I am level 3 in Makaton and practice it quite regularly within the Nursery.
I lead youth groups and kids clubs at my local church.
My Qualifications
I have A*BB at A-level in Art, Psychology and Health and Social Care
Level 3 in Makaton
3 year in Stranmillis specialising in Art
My Availability
Due to work commitments and university my availability during the day is fairly limited. Although this could change throughout the year.
