About Me

I'm a gap year student (just left sixth form) applying to study medicine for 2025 entry.
I have 9 A*s at GCSE level (Maths, Triple Science, French, History, Art, English Language, English Literature) and AAB at A Level (Biology, Maths, Chemistry).

I have prior experience from tutoring three students through their GCSEs as well as several younger family members. The two students who sat their GCSEs last year increased their grades respectively from a 6/B to an 8/A and from a 5/C to a 7/A-.

I have both character and professional references available from my school and individual teachers on request.

I fit my tutoring around my students, so will adapt our learning schedule to suit their needs. I have worked both with students who struggle with the course content, so need basic support in understanding content, and with students who want to increase their grades but are not necessarily struggling with the content.

For students requiring content aid, I build lesson plans before the session and dedicate each session to working through one module of the course. For this type of tutoring, it is useful both to have a timeframe in which to work (i.e. how many sessions before the exam) and specific information on what areas cause the most problems so that I can provide the most effective support.

For students looking to get to the higher grade boundaries (7s/8s/9s or A/A*), the focus tends more to be on exam technique, in which case I will work through difficult questions in person, breaking down exam technique regarding 6 mark questions for science subjects and longer essay questions in History/English.

If my student wants home learning tasks set, I will adjust my learning plan accordingly around that. Home learning tasks will always relate to the content we covered in the preceding session, so as to build on techniques/content covered in those sessions and make the student more familiar with them. I also personally mark and provide feedback on all homework I set, taking the time in our following session to cover any parts of the home learning task that is important.

I enjoy working with GCSE students, and understand how daunting sitting a large volume of subjects in your first real standardised exam experience can be. I also enjoy working with A level students; my Chemistry achieved B is not representative of my ability, and were you to want me as a Chemistry tutor, either for GCSE's or A Levels, I can provide an academic reference from my Chemistry teacher to attest to that (I fell asleep in my last paper so was 2 marks off an A). I am resitting my Chemistry A Level this year, with a predicted A*, so the content will be fresh and continuous as I will spend the next 9 months revising content that I would also be tutoring.

Please don't hesitate to contact me if you have any queries (about me or what subjects I am able to tutor) or requests for references.

Thank you for considering me for the responsibility of supporting your child's education.

My Experience
