About Me
My drive to provide support to individuals in need has been a constant throughout my life, through volunteering and employment opportunities. These opportunities have highlighted my friendly, caring, creative and patient character, while strengthening my positive can do attitude.
I have also worked in hospitality on/off since I was 16 alongside study which has created organisation and time management abilities, developed my confidence, efficiency, focus, communicational skills, teamwork abilities and leadership skills.
I thoroughly enjoy pursuing my own art practise and it’s observing its therapeutic qualities, participating in workshops and short courses when available. I also enjoy hiking, an avid film viewer, enjoy cooking and visiting galleries, strong interest in travel which has enabled me to gain experience in areas of key interest. Volunteering and working at festivals is also something I find a huge amount of enjoyment in, being immersed in these creative collaborations.
My Experience
I have a range of experience working with children and young adults spread over 11 years as an Au Pair, support in educational and residential settings and most recently as an Transpersonal Arts Counsellor within a Therapies Centre. These opportunities have highlighted my friendly, caring, creative and patient character, while strengthening my positive can do attitude. These settings have included working with children and young adults with high levels of educational, developmental and emotional needs, often displaying high levels of challenging behaviour. This work involved me working 1:1 with the individual to support them through their day.
My experience working within special needs education, therapeutic and residential settings has provided a heightened awareness to how each individual is so significantly and uniquely different, and made me aware of the importance of adapting for each individuals needs. It has heightened my awareness of the senses, effects of change/transitions and relying on the reading of body language and reactions when verbal communication in not available.
