Hi everyone,
We’re looking for a kind, patient, and dedicated Carer/Personal Assistant to help support our amazing 11-year-old son, Reuben. He has a rare brain condition called Joubert Syndrome, which impacts many aspects of his life. While Reuben is non-verbal and non-mobile, he has a beautiful way of communicating with us using his unique version of Makaton signing.
Reuben is full of personality and has a contagious smile that lights up the room. He loves interaction, sensory activities, and spending time with those who can bring warmth, creativity, and positivity into his daily life.

Pay
Upwards of 22K per year, this can be Prorata or hourly
My Requirements
What We’re Looking For
Someone who is compassionate, reliable, and has experience (or a willingness to learn) working with children with complex needs.
- Ideally, someone familiar with or open to learning Makaton to help Reuben communicate and express himself.
- A person who can support Reuben’s personal care needs, toileting and help him engage with the world around him in meaningful ways.
Your Role & Hours:
- Assisting with day-to-day care, including feeding, personal hygiene, and mobility support.
- Creating a nurturing, stimulating environment where Reuben can thrive.
- Term Time Hours:
- 5 mornings a week, 7:00 AM – 8:30 AM.
- 3 evenings a week, 4:30 PM – 6:30 PM.
- School Holidays:
- 5 days a week (specific hours to be discussed).
Extra opportunity to do holiday stays with Reuben at our house, house sitting and overnight care.
We have 2 other children, 4 and 8, who enjoy working with our carers and engaging with them in a meaningful way.
