About Me
Hello! My name is Katherine, a first year student at the University of Edinburgh studying German. Originally from Bromsgrove, Worcestershire, I've been working with children in classroom, babysitting and summer camp settings since 2022. I enjoy creating a fun and engaging environment for children, whether that be in baking, crafts or enjoying time outdoors. I really love the spontaneity of working with children and being able to have unique experiences with different children. I am currently looking for some ad-hoc babysitting work whilst at university, mostly in the afternoons and evenings. I live in Abbeyhill and would ideally like to be in walking distance, but I have free access to bus services, so that shouldn't be a problem.
My Experience
I worked as an assistant at a summer camp supporting a variety of activities for children aged 9-13. This involved me working in both busy environments, but also in smaller groups with fewer children. This experience gave me lots of confidence in my leadership and organisational skills, and keeping calm when faced with challenging situations. I also worked with 7-9 year olds as part of my DofE gold volunteering programme; I supported their reading and homework sessions in their afterschool clubs, and occasionally arts and crafts. I was also a peer mentor in my school, allowing me to develop in my compassion and understanding towards children. Additionally I have been sporadically babysitting for families back in Bromsgrove for some time now.
My Qualifications
I have 3 A levels, plus an EPQ qualification, and am currently undertaking my undergraduate degree. I am also DBS checked and have been safeguarding trained.
My Availability
I am fairly flexible (timetable permitting), and available to do most afterschool/ evening hours. I also sometimes have time over lunchtime if that is something you would need. Evenings can sometimes change, but please feel free to check with me!
