My Summary
About Me
My name is Anastasia and I am a second year student studying Media and Communications at Newcastle University. I moved to the Uk when I was five years old from Eastern Europe and have been here ever since. I have a big family and have grown up with five siblings, which taught me problem solving and catering to the emotional needs of others. When I moved to Newcastle last year, it was hard to adjust because I missed my family. However, the warmth and kindness I encountered from others made a huge difference and showed me how comforting the warm presence of others can be.
For A Levels I studied English, Psychology and Photography because these are the subjects I feel I am strongest in and that I have always been drawn to. My ability to concisely express ideas and thoughts mean I can effectively communicate with others and I also enjoy creative writing. Photography has been a long term passion of mine and I have developed photo-books that convey stories with distinct themes. I enjoy drawing, watching movies and cartoons and cooking.
The people who know me well would describe me as caring, witty and genuine. While growing up, I had to come out of my comfort times at times which shaped my confidence and approach to meeting new people. I believe my creativity and my ambition for helping others means I am dedicated when set a task. Whether it’s assisting with homework, creative activities, helping improve on certain subjects, looking after young ones, or simply being a comforting presence, I am committed to making a positive difference.
My Experience
Throughout my adolescence, I have regularly looked after family friends' children on weekends and during trips, caring for kids ranging in age from 4 to 12 years old. I have developed strong childcare skills, as I’m quick to think on my feet and adept at engaging with children in meaningful ways. While studying Psychology, I learned about the importance of early interactions in shaping a child’s development, which has greatly influenced my approach to childcare. To deepen my understanding, I have actively read and researched children’s psychology.
Last summer, I was asked to spend time looking after my family friend's 5-year-old twins. Over time, I gained their trust, and we formed a close bond. I thoroughly enjoyed spending time playing with them and encouraging them to express themselves more. Being bilingual and having settled into a new culture at a young age, I feel confident in my ability to explain and teach things, drawing on my own experience of learning to excel in new skills. Having experienced the care of nannies during my own childhood, I deeply understand the importance of communication, engagement, and building strong, meaningful relationships with children—qualities I admired and learned from those who cared for me.
My Qualifications
While I do not hold formal childcare qualifications, I bring extensive hands-on experience and well-developed skills in working with children. My experience taught me to manage responsibilities such as creating engaging activities, ensuring children's safety, and fostering positive relationships. I understand the importance of clear communication, patience, and adaptability when caring for children, which I have demonstrated when looking after the children of family friends. This practical experience has equipped me to provide a nurturing and supportive environment for children
