About Me
Hello! My name is Sarah, and I am part of a family-run childminding business based in Potton, called Mallards Childcare. Together with my co-childminders—my parents—we bring over 45 years of combined experience working with children. Each of us is an Ofsted-registered childminder, passionate about nurturing children and creating a safe, stimulating, and calming environment.
Our Approach

Nature Play & Exploration: Daily outdoor learning in our spacious garden, complete with a dedicated childminding cabin.
Forest School-Inspired Activities: Visits to local parks, woodlands, and the library, as well as engaging in group activities and community events.

Creative and Sensory Activities: Opportunities to explore crafts, sensory play, cooking, and gardening to stimulate creativity and fine motor skills.
Our Family & Pets
I have three wonderful children of my own—two under 5 and one aged 12. We also have two friendly dogs and a pair of tortoises, which children often enjoy observing and learning about.
Healthy Meals & Flexibility
We provide healthy breakfasts and snacks to fuel your little one’s adventures. We accept all government funding, tax-free childcare, and offer stretch funding. Our service is open 48 weeks a year, giving families reliable and flexible care.

My Experience
I have over 15 years of experience as an Early Years teacher, working with nursery and reception-aged children from a range of backgrounds and abilities. I also have 5 years’ experience as a nursery nurse, caring for babies and children up to 4 years old in a rural nursery setting.
I have experience of forest school style learning and Hygge in the Early Years, which is about focusing on fostering a sense of well-being, contentment, and togetherness through simple pleasures and everyday moments for children.
My Qualifications
- Full CRB Check
- BEd Primary Teaching Degree with QTS
- BTEC National Diploma in Early Years
- Level 3 Paediatric First Aid
- Food Hygeine
- Safeguarding Children and Designated Lead
- Hygge in the Early Years
- Greg Bottrills drawing club and scribble club.
