My Summary
About Me
Hi! My name is Carmen, I’m 26 and I’m from Spain.
I moved to London 5 years ago to train as a dancer. So far I am enjoying every second!
I am a very enthusiastic, fun, and reliable person.
I have years of experience working with children of all ages, from babies to teenagers.
As a nanny I am very involved, I am always down to play, run, jump, put fun costumes on and even roll on the floor when the situation requires it. :)
I am always trying to think of fun activities to do with the kids, such as cooking a simple recipe, going to the library, play games or make some crafts.
I am very patient and considerate, but I understand the importance of setting clear boundaries when necessary. Consistency is key when working with children, so I like to be on the same page as the parents and make sure I follow their pedagogy.
I am ideally looking to work around 16 hours per week, but I can be flexible with that.
I am very approachable and I appreciate open communication, I like to feel that we can be professional but talk about anything that may come up in a clear and honest way.
I am looking forward to connect with a great family where we can all feel comfortable, create a healthy bond and support them the best I can! ??
My Experience
One of my most significant jobs working with children was my most recent one.
For the last three years, I worked as a Teacher Assistant in a Special Needs School. I worked in primary, but also covered in secondary classes sometimes.
I have learned and grown so much in this job.
Every child and professional I’ve worked with, had a lesson to teach me.
My job as a TA was mainly supporting the students in their lessons throughout the day, making sure they were safe in school and in any trip we made. Also supporting the teacher getting ready any resources for the lessons, or leading some of the classes when the teacher was not available. I even planned and taught a yoga and movement session once a week.
I was also the class first aider, so I have plenty of experience applying plasters and bandages. ??
My time in the school has definitely honed my patience, communication skills and creativity.
I also received a lot of useful training that I can now transfer into any future job. Every one of my students will always have a special place in my heart, I am deeply honored I was able to support their learning and be a little part of their education. That’s why that job was so special to me.
However, my journey in childcare began years before that.
I started working as an after school nanny back in Spain, when I was 15. I looked after some younger kids from my school.
I worked with over 10 different families. There was one family that I remember with special affection, because I worked with them every week for three years, and I came to feel part of the family. I looked after their younger son. When I started he was only 6 months old, seeing him grow into a toddler was a beautiful journey. He must be around 11 now, I am still in contact with them. :)
When I was 17 I also spent 3 months in Poland working as an Aupair, looking after two siblings aged 10 and 12. I also did some light housekeeping tasks and did some spanish lessons with the kids.
I’ve also worked for a year as a dance teacher in different primary schools in Spain.
Here in London, I worked with three families as a nanny through an agency a few years ago, until I was hired in the school.
To be honest, I remember every child I have ever worked with, as they have all taught me so much.
If you have any questions regarding any of my experience, please don’t hesitate to ask.
My Qualifications
I am a trained dancer, in different styles, mostly contemporary!
I still train dance in the weekends and I am in two dance companies.
-First Aid Qualified
-DBS check
-Attention Autism Trained
-Makaton Trained
Not an official qualification, but my cakes and cookies are to die for! ;)
My Availability
I am looking ideally for around 16 hours per week, but I am open to discuss it.
3 to 5 days a week.
I am pretty flexible with the times during the week. I can do early mornings before the kids go to school, or afternoon/evenings.
I usually cannot do weekends because it is when I have dance rehearsals or performances, but I could do it occasionally as long as it’s communicated in advance (if you wanted to have a cheeky night out for example).
