About Me
Hello, my name is Ellie and I have recently registered as a childminder. I currently have a little boy (Jack) who is a year and a half old who is one of my driving reasons for my career change. We live in Lancing with my husband (Patric) who works in construction, our two dachshunds (Maeve and Branston) and our cat (Heinz).
I have many years of experience looking after our nieces and nephews who come to stay with us as well as hosting young students from overseas and looking after our own son. I am currently taking various courses to help gain a wider knowledge of childcare and am passionate about creating a fun learning environment where everyone feels safe and secure. I am excited to work closely alongside parents to ensure that you feel comfortable and confident with how your child is being cared for.
I have a full drivers licence and use of a car.
I am happy to offer as many settling in sessions as needed for your child to get to know me and feel comfortable staying at my home.
My Experience
I am new to childminding however between my husband and I we have 6 nieces and nephews ranging in ages from 3 years-15 years who we have regularly looked after from birth. We have a son who was born May 2023. Jack has been a driving factor in deciding to take the leap and start my own childminding business. When going back to work I struggled to find a place where I felt happy to leave him for the day and all the places I found that we were happy with were full.
I work from the summer house at the end of our garden and our garden which we have secured for childminding however we will try to spend a good proportion of the day outside (weather permitting). Our summer house has a small toilet and kitchenette area as well as ample toys and learning activities. Our garden has a separate area for the children which the dogs cannot access and our dogs stay in the main area of the house. The garden has a small play house and outdoor toys.
We attend the library regularly and children will help select different books to read to encourage a love of books. We have a national trust membership which and will attend local sites with children to immerse them in different experiences. We visit parks and I am currently looking at the best options for memberships for farm parks near by.
I love doing different activities such as crafts and cooking with Jack and we are very excited to have more children to include and to have fun learning with.
I have had lots of help and support so far from magic minders and will continue to do meet ups with other childminders in our local area as I think this is a fantastic way for the children to socialise, make friends and learn new skills.
I follow the Early Years Foundation Stages 7 areas of learning and aim to share regular updates and pictures keep parents updates with what your child is learning and doing whilst in my care.
I aim to create a safe, nurturing environment that children enjoy coming to and where they can learn and experience a variety of activities.
