My Experience

As my children were growing, I wanted to know all about their development, so I undertook personal study to gain a diploma in child psychology. This involved detailed learning on physical, emotional, intellectual, social, and linguistic development in children. I used this learning while training for the Children's Hearing in Scotland System, where I contributed to positive interventions for children dealing with adversity and challenging family situations. This fuelled my desire to work with children in the future and now that my own children are independent, the time is right.

I have a clear PVG profile, and I am honest, trustworthy, punctual and reliable. I have considerable experience working with children. During my pharmacy career, I managed all aspects of pharmaceutical care for children of all ages, backgrounds and cultures at Edinburgh's Sick Children's Hospital, where I learned a great deal about caring for and supporting children of different ages and stages of development. While my children were at nursery, I was invited each year to chat to the children about the dangers of finding medicines lying about their homes. These sessions were so rewarding and allowed me to understand more about children's inquisitiveness and vulnerabilities. I volunteered at South Lanarkshire Orchestral Society for many years where I supported the musical development of children and young people. As a committee member, I was responsible for communication, membership management and arranging concerts and events that showcased the young musicians’ talents. I have been volunteering at my local primary school for the past six months, helping children from nursery age through to primary 7. I am genuinely interested in children's curiosities, perceptions and opinions and I am patient, fun-loving and devoted to what I do. I enjoy encouraging children’s development through indoor and outdoor play, reading, creative arts and fun activities. I would love to look after your children to provide a continuum of the care and compassion that is already in their lives.

My Qualifications

BSc (Hons) Pharmacy, PhD in neuroscience, Diploma in child psychology.

My Availability

I am available during week days, both mornings and afternoons, and I have availability for after-school care that extents into the early evenings. I will consider weekend and evening work on request.

My Fees

• Babysitting from £15.00 per hour

My fees start from £15 per hour but may be slightly higher depending on the distance of travel to and from the place of work.
