About Me
Tiny Hands is a unique childcare setting in Tunbridge Wells,
Our Ethos is:
"Every child deserves the best start in life, and we’re here to make those first years truly special. Through cherishing, caring, and engaging learning experiences, we nurture every child’s unique potential."
"We focus on building the foundations they need today, confidence, curiosity, and a love of learning to help them thrive in the future."
I have 28 years of experience and am passionate about helping children learn and grow in their early years. I follow the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) framework, which focuses on seven key areas of learning: communication and language, physical development, personal, social, and emotional development, literacy, mathematics, understanding the world, and expressive arts and design. I believe every child is unique, and the activities I plan are tailored to their individual needs and interests, encouraging development in all these areas whilst keeping learning fun and engaging, with an enabling environment to promote independence.
Learning with Tiny Hands extends beyond the classroom. I incorporate visits to local parks, play areas, and places of interest to bring the EYFS principles to life, offering opportunities for active exploration and discovery. Your child will enjoy carefully tailored activities such as sensory experiences, imaginative play, and circle time, which includes stories, singing, topics, show and tell, and lots more all designed to align with Your child’s interests and developmental goals.
At Tiny Hands, we aim to provide the same social interaction with similar-aged peers that you would find in a small nursery, fostering personal, social, and emotional skills. My low adult-to-child ratios set Tiny Hands apart, allowing us to offer exceptional care and valuable "one-to-one" attention to support your child's individual needs and learning journey.
Tiny Hand's secure back garden provides free-flow access at any time of day or weather, enabling children to enjoy a seamless mix of indoor and outdoor activities. I plan engaging opportunities for physical play, creative exploration, and hands-on learning in a safe, stimulating environment.
Conveniently located on Hornbeam Avenue, Tunbridge Wells, Tiny Hands is just a short walk from High Brooms station ideal for commuting parents. Drop-offs and pick-ups are hassle-free, with parking available directly in front of the house or a small car park 30 meters away.
I also have two friendly cats who love spending time with the children, adding to the warm, home-like atmosphere that makes the Tiny Hands setting truly special.
My Experience
My Experience in Early Years Education:
I’ve always been passionate about nurturing the growth and development of young children. Over the years, I have gained invaluable experience working with children in their earliest and most formative stages, helping to lay the foundation for a lifetime of learning, curiosity, and confidence.
In my career, I have been fortunate to have a variety of roles, including leadership positions that have deepened my understanding of what it takes to create high-quality early years environments. As a manager of two settings and later an area manager for a nursery chain, I have gained firsthand experience, overseeing multiple teams and ensuring that the highest standards of care and education are consistently met.
These roles allowed me to:
Support and mentor staff to help them grow and excel in their practice, ultimately enhancing the experiences of the children in their care.
Develop and implement policies and procedures that prioritised children’s safety, well-being, and learning outcomes.
Work closely with families, building trust and collaboration to create a strong sense of community.
Oversee operational and educational aspects of several settings, ensuring they met regulatory requirements and provided exceptional care.
Hands-On Expertise:
Beyond my leadership experience, my journey in early years education has equipped me with a deep understanding of:
Child Development: I’ve had the privilege of observing and supporting children as they reach key developmental milestones, from their first steps to forming friendships and developing problem-solving skills.
EYFS Framework: My work is guided by the Early Years Foundation Stage framework, ensuring that the children in my care receive a holistic and balanced education that supports their physical, social, emotional, and cognitive development.
Creating Safe, Stimulating Environments: I’ve honed my ability to design spaces and activities that encourage exploration, creativity, and learning while maintaining the highest safety standards.
Individualised Care: Every child is unique, and I take pride in adapting my approach to meet the individual needs, interests, and abilities of each child.
Why This Matters to Me.
Working in the early years is more than a job to me – it’s a calling. I find immense joy in seeing a child’s face light up as they master a new skill or discover something new about the world around them. Knowing that I play a part in shaping their early experiences and helping them develop into happy, confident learners is truly rewarding.
Raising Three Boys
Along with my husband, I have had the incredible privilege of raising three boys of our own. This journey has provided us with a unique and deeply personal understanding of the challenges and joys that come with nurturing children as they grow and develop. From guiding them through their first words and steps to navigating the whirlwind of their school years, raising our sons has given us firsthand insight into the resilience, creativity, and curiosity that define early childhood. This experience has shaped my approach to childcare and education, allowing me to connect with families on a personal level and offer practical, empathetic support.
Whether it’s through creative play, outdoor adventures, or quiet moments of storytelling, my goal is to create a nurturing and inspiring home from home environment where every child can thrive.
