My Summary
About Me
I am a PGCE qualified teacher, ex-teacher trainer and an elected Fellow of the Royal Entomological Society. I have eighteen years of post qualification experience of teaching in primary, secondary and post-compulsory education. I am a passionate advocate of individual and experiential learning, always looking for that particular hook that will actively engage children - even hard to reach ones in the process of learning and achievement.
Being a recognised entomologist, my passion is for all things nature and conservation, and wherever possible, I look to bring that into my teaching methodology to enrich and enhance my learners' experiences.
My Experience
I have taught and worked with a very wide range of learning contexts over the last eighteen years post-qualification. I have worked one to one teaching, SEN teaching, primary teaching, secondary teaching, worked as a teacher training lecturer, wrote an FdEd. and new PGCE course shortly before redundancy in 2015. I work nationwide as a mobile entomology teacher in primary schools, secondary schools and universities with my company, Bugfest.
I offer primary age support (all subjects) especially English and in particular, the gifted and talented and those who really need the support the most. It's a sad fact that no matter how outstanding and amazing the class teacher, when you have a class of thirty, it is nigh on impossible to meet every single child's particular needs in full, but in small groups, we can really zone in and stretch the able and widen the goalposts for those who need a little bit more support and confidence building.
I also offer GCSE English Literature and Language support.
Private tutoring can easily add another grade boundary to predicted grades!
