About Me

I have babysat numerous times for parents within and outside my family. The ages range from infant to primary school, and it would usually be on days where the parent/s would have to be out for most of the day rather than just after school. Furthermore, I have experience dropping off and picking up the children from school/ nursery.
With the older children we would either go to the park, carry out fun activities at home or outside. But for the most part i’d follow the plan set out by the parents of what to do with the children. In my experience with the baby to toddler stage, I would mostly focus on making sure they eat properly and on time because they are younger and need to eat specific foods more often.
My main responsibilities were: feeding, helping with homework if there was any, getting them to school/ bed on time and keeping their safety and wellbeing my very top priority.

Being organised is something I take pride in as this strength of mine which is transferable to most areas in life. This ensures the children will be kept to some form of structure however strict or fluid the parents choose for me to implement.
I studied music technology and I create music: singing and writing. Music is a very large part of my life and I grew up heavily musically oriented. I often find myself either humming or listening to music so, whoever i’m looking after will definitely hear a form of music from my part.
I would describe my approach as calm and loving as children respond to energy. They are essentially sponges to whatever is presented around them and will reflect that in their speech or behaviour. Having a calm approach to whatever they do, whether it be good or naughty, is imperative to me because I have noticed in my experience that children will listen more effectively if you calmly help them understand where they went wrong and why they shouldn’t do it again. Shouting at them will cause them to become reclusive and not open to corrective criticism and the cycle will repeat again. Again they are only young and they don’t know how to regulate their emotions properly yet. As adults we are here to help guide them and care for them no matter what.

I have always loved working with children and I believe this is due to being influenced by my mother who has experience in childminding and currently working in early years. I do my best to help them feel seen and heard. Their interests and talents are important to nurture as they’re at such a vulnerable age for development and growth. It’s always a lovely time when working with any age. They help me learn how to be patient and more creative. Not only am I teaching them, but they teach me also. They are generally more intelligent than they are given credit for.
