About Me
About Us
We’re Matt and Tara, a couple eagerly awaiting the arrival of our twin boys, due on January 22, 2025. We both work from home—Matt as a land and finance manager, primarily remotely, and Tara as an artist running her own studio. When we’re not working or parenting, we love spending time outdoors—mountaineering, hiking, climbing, and trail running are just a few of the activities we enjoy together. Our shared values of honesty, openness, and a love for the wild form the foundation of our relationship, and we’re excited to extend that to our new family dynamic.
In addition to our growing family, we have a 10-year-old husky/American Akita named Lucy-Lu, who is a beloved part of the family. She’s playful and loving, and we’d love for you to be comfortable with her presence.
We’re looking for a full-time nanny to help us care for our newborn twin boys while we continue our work and active lifestyles. Our home is a place where calmness and structure are balanced with flexibility, and we’re hoping to find someone who shares our values and approach to parenting.
The Role
As our nanny, your main responsibilities will revolve around caring for our newborn twins. We’re looking for someone who can help with feeding, changing, soothing, and general day-to-day care. You’ll also assist with light housekeeping—keeping the home tidy and helping with household chores as needed. While cooking wholesome meals isn’t a primary responsibility, if you’re skilled in preparing nutritious meals, that would be a lovely bonus.
Key Responsibilities:
Primary: Caring for our twin boys (feeding, changing, soothing, and general care).
Secondary: Light housekeeping and helping with some household chores.
Bonus: Cooking wholesome, nutritious meals (if you enjoy cooking).
Hours & Schedule:
Full-time hours with flexible daytimes throughout the week (including Sundays).
No overnight work required.
Opportunity to travel with us on family holidays, with all expenses covered.
Location: We live in Steyning, West Sussex, on the Penlands estate, just 0.5 miles from the town center. Steyning is a charming village with lots of parks, walking trails, and outdoor activities to enjoy. While there is a bus route nearby, we would prefer the nanny to have their own car for commuting.
Teamwork & Communication
Working together as a team is essential to us, especially with twins on the way. We aim for a balanced and open dynamic with clear communication and mutual respect. We will happily provide instructions when needed, but we also value initiative. If you're ever unsure about something, we encourage you to reach out to us for clarification.
Matt is very tech-savvy and manages our family’s messaging groups, so feel free to message him or Tara with any queries you have during the day.
Qualifications & Experience
We’re looking for a nanny who has:
Experience with newborns (experience with twins is a plus, but not required).
At least 2 years of experience in childcare.
Certifications such as infant CPR and first aid are highly valued. Other early childhood education qualifications are also beneficial.
Preferably a background in pediatric nursing or midwifery (experience in childcare is also appreciated).
Health Considerations
Matt: I’m currently managing a ruptured herniated disk in my lower back, diagnosed in December 2024. I’m unable to lift anything, and I experience regular pain, though it’s managed with physiotherapy and walking. I’ll soon begin swimming and gym sessions as part of my recovery plan.
Tara: I have post-treatment Lyme disease syndrome (PTLDS), which can lead to fatigue, joint pain, and low energy, especially when overexerted. I manage these symptoms by pacing myself and ensuring adequate rest.
We want to make sure the nanny is aware of our health needs and can be a supportive part of our team. Your understanding and flexibility in assisting with these considerations would be greatly appreciated.
Perks of the Job
Competitive Pay & Flexibility: We offer a competitive salary with flexible hours to suit both your needs and ours.
Travel Opportunities: Join us on family holidays and trips, including to the Alps for snowboarding and to Scotland for cozy mountain stays. All expenses for travel are covered.
Professional Development: We’ll help keep your first aid qualifications up to date and offer opportunities for advanced driving training.
Gym Membership: Enjoy a full David Lloyd membership to help you stay fit and healthy.
Meals & Expenses: All food and drink during working hours are provided, along with a fuel allowance for any driving you do for the job.
We hope this role resonates with someone who’s eager to work as part of a close-knit, active family and who shares our values. If you’re passionate about childcare and enjoy the flexibility of a family-focused role, we’d love to hear from you!
Note: We look forward to finding the right person to help us navigate this exciting chapter as we welcome our twin boys into the world!
