My name is Grace, I am 27 years old and have recently moved to London from Dublin, Ireland.
(Although I know SE area very well, as have visited numerous times over the past few years).
I have a bachelor's degree in Fine Art and am currently pursuing a Master's in Art&Ecology at Goldsmiths University.
I have extensive experience working with children and young people. My mother was a childminder for 10 years and then became a Special Needs Assistant and Resource Teacher in a local secondary school.
Throughout secondary school and studying for my bachelor's degree I worked in cafes, retail and consistently worked as a childminder on top of this.
I have volunteered in Youth Work organisations and have 1+ years of experience working as head of an After Schools programme, where I looked after 16 children while managing a team of 20 staff and volunteers over the week and 2+ years as a youth worker/arts practitioner in Dublin's inner city.
I am looking to childmind while studying for my masters here in London.
I am very experienced and capable, I love organising activities, arts and crafts and spending time outdoors with children. I have experience with cats and dogs as well, I had a Siberian Husky Logan for 14 years and I currently childmind for a young boy aged 9 in SE London who owns a cat.
My Experience
Over the years I have had experience with many different families.
The most recent family I have experience working with is a 9 year old boy here in London. He is an only child, I collect him from school and we go to the park if the weather permits. We then walk or take bus home, where I make snack/dinner for him, we then do activities together such as arts and crafts, play games, depending on time his parents arrive home I also help with his bedtime routine. Brushing teeth, reading bedtime stories before he falls asleep. We also feed his cat. I mind him one evening a week and do extra hours on weekend nights if parents need.
Before moving to London I worked for a year as head of an After School Programme with the organisation Solas Project, in Dublin's inner city. This after school programme functioned as a home-from-home environment we worked with children who were predicted as high risk, early school leavers. I collected children from school, walked back to the club and supervised homework, dinner and activities. Through these activities, our main focus was to encourage the growth of personal and social developmental skills. I looked after 14/16 children daily and also had a team of volunteers which I managed. In this role, I also communicated and worked alongside, social workers, teachers, school liaison officers and most importantly the children's parents.
Previous to Solas Project, I looked after two children for 2+ years, a boy and a girl who were 6 and 8 in age when I began. I worked from 7 am - 6 pm three days a week. I took care of the morning routine, breakfast, prep lunches, wake up kids, prepare for school as well as school drop off and collection either by walking or via bikes. I would take care of the home while the children were at school, doing house chores and would then collect the children from school. Afterwards, I would assist with homework, snacks/dinner, after-school activities such as sports/music lessons and our own activities such as playing outdoors/arts and crafts. I would supervise playdates on Fridays of up to 5+ children including collection from school.
I have extensive experience working with children as my references will reflect and I am a professional youth worker.
My Qualifications
I have first aid health and safety training, which was updated in 2024.Including CPR training.
I am a qualified Youth Worker.
My Availability
Not available Tuesday as previous commitment to family I work with.
Available evenings for after-school collection till late evening (whenever parents require.)
I am also available Mon-Fri mornings from 7am - 9am.
I am available all weekend.
