About Me
I am a very caring, friendly, experienced and patient tutor/teacher who loves seeing progress in pupils. Over the last eight years I have had the opportunity to also host international pupils in my own home which has been very enjoyable. I enjoy walks in the countryside with my Boxer dog. I also enjoy reading, visiting places of interest, theatre and swimming. I firmly believe that one to one tuition by a highly experienced tutor can immensely help any student whether they are struggling or not.
I have additional qualifications which I believe are beneficial to teaching. These are a counselling certificate, safeguarding children certificate, SCIP training and prevent awareness training. I also have a TEFL qualification allowing me to teach international pupils online and in my own home throughout the summer holidays.
I am a member of The Tutoring Association which means I am on the DBS update service and continually monitored and guided to make sure that I am working in line with the curriculum and have all the correct policies etc in place.
My Experience
I have been teaching as a private tutor in the private education sector independently and through agencies across Hampshire for over twenty years. I tutor full time and this is my own business and full time career. Therefore, unlike many teachers who do a few private lessons here and there, I am fully committed and can spend all of my time preparing lessons and focusing on my private students. I have taught children who are being home schooled, pupils who need some one to one tuition, group tuition, helped to run successful revision courses through an agency and prepared pupils for exams such as Common Entrance, iGCSE, GCSE's and SAT's (all of which I have had successful results with and have kept a record of.)
I have experience of working with several learning difficulties such as dyspraxia, dyslexia, autism and ADHD as well as behavioural problems.
I have taught in several schools across Hampshire and other areas of the country and continue to work in several local secondary schools as part of
The National Tutoring Programme. I am extremely familiar with The National Curriculum, different syllabuses and the variety of examination boards that schools use and stick to following these.
