Hello,
I wonder if you can help. I am a social worker at West Sussex Children’s Services, and we are seeking a childminder for a set of four year old twins. The twins live with their grandparents in the northern side of Chichester. The family are refugees from Ukraine came here on a family visa because of the war. Under normal circumstances they would not be open to us, but the government guidance means that Ukrainian children living in the UK with anyone else that is not a parent, has to be under private fostering for monitoring.
The grandparents have their own individual health needs; grandfather went into hospital for a heart operation in October last year, from which he is still recovering. The grandmother is going into hospital on 16.1.25 for a major operation, which will take time to recover.
The twins currently have free 15 hours a week at a nursery in Chichester – this is only on a Monday and Friday. There has been a request to see if we could find a childminder that could offer an additional 10 or 15 hours spread over Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday which would offer respite to the grandparents and allow time for them to recover, with a view to starting this as soon as possible.
Ideally the childminders would be in the local area- either walking distance or a bus ride from the family home
