My Summary
About Me
I have great interpersonal skills and patience. I am quite loving and a very calm person who is willing to share that and input it into any environment with kids. Empathy and sympathy come with this, allowing me to understand others and kids better.
I also am very multicultural, having many cultural backgrounds, such as my Filipino roots, Caribbean roots, and British roots. I input these in my everyday life, which is something I can input into the kid's life, teaching them discipline, good morals, self-belief, and faith, as I am a Catholic if this is something you guys are looking for.
As well as this, I am a big foodie and hopefully can share some cultural foods. Even teach the kids how to cook and meal prep. I also love food in general and am passionate about nutrition, being an ex-wellness coach. I would take the kids out on appropriate yet fun trips, nap times, cooking together or meal prep helping, and spend time with them, whether that be playing games together, watching a film, or learning about their interests and favourite hobbies. Take them out for walks or to the park, or help them with homework where necessary or any tutoring needed.
I love working with kids from the moment I started babysitting, although I found my true love and passion for it when I started volunteering.
Having that previous knowledge and then applying it to work with a different age group and kids of diverse backgrounds and special needs was a blessing to me. I honestly love working with kids, as I feel like kids are the joys in life with their smiles and passions, whether it be wanting to become a football player or a Disney princess. I believe that no dream is silly or a question.
I love working with kids because they teach you new things that you didn’t know about the world, yourself, or them and their hobbies. As well as this, I love talking, and kids talk a lot, which for me is a bonus because I love to socialise and be that listener who shows that someone cares. Even if kids are quiet, I love being in their presence just to show that someone cares. I also love working with kids because they are energetic, just like my personality, and you can get to experience so many fun things with kids, whether that be arts and crafts, exploring nature on day outs, or learning a new skill. I also love working with kids because I’ve seen based on my experience that they make you a better person as a whole and give you an experience to hold onto for life or experiences that are valuable.
My Experience
I have babysat my little 4-year-old cousin (girl) within the family for 2-3 whole days. I also managed my other 5-year-old cousin (boy) for half a day alongside my 7- and 8-year-old cousins (boy) for a few whole days.
My main responsibilities were to cook, prep meals, clean, give them baths or showers if needed, and help them change. Help them with homework. Help put them to sleep and feed them, as well as make sure they are safe and entertained and have everything they need, from a soothing baby channel to colouring books. As well as watching over them.
Babysitting outside of family, I have managed various ages ranging from 4 to 12 year olds. I worked a whole day. My main responsibilities were to feed them, take them out to play, spend time with them, etc. Making sure they have their basic needs met, like having a toilet, snacks, help, tutoring, watching over, etc.
I have volunteered with 8-11 year olds with diverse backgrounds, including severe disabilities, ethnic minorities, special needs, etc. I worked 4 hours to 8 hours a week. Planning activities that were fun for the kids. Making sure they had snacks and a healthy option. Making sure they were well looked after, being wise, and psychically always checking up on them. Providing first aid. Handling naughty kids. Making food. Socialising and being a friend and companion. Making sure they were able to put their outer garments on and had everything to go home.
I also have nannying experience of children aged 4-7.
