Job Description: Childcare Provider for a 4-Year-Old with Autism

Location: Angel, London (near City University)
Hours: Weekdays from 6:00 PM until late (exact timing to be discussed)
Pay: £15 per hour

About Us:
I’m a working parent with a wonderful 4-year-old son who has autism. He’s a cheeky, lovable, and cuddly child who thrives with care and attention. He adores broccoli (his favorite meal is broccoli pasta with cheese!) and is currently navigating potty training.

We live in Angel, just around the corner from City Road and Goswell Road, near Angel Station. My son attends nursery in Barbican on weekdays, finishing at 6:00 PM. I work in Highbury and Islington and need a childcare provider who can help bridge the gap between his nursery hours and my work schedule.

What We’re Looking For:
We are seeking a reliable, special needs-trained childcare provider with officer registration (such as Ofsted registration). This is essential, as I am on a low income and my son’s Disability Living Allowance (DLA) is not readily available to cover additional costs. My home is also undergoing renovations, so affordability and trustworthiness are key.

Responsibilities:
• Pick up my son from nursery (Barbican) at 6:00 PM and bring him home.
• Provide a calm and engaging environment, catering to his needs and personality.
• Assist with potty training as required (he’s still learning).
• Serve pre-cooked meals that I will prepare.
• Focus solely on caring for my son—no household chores are needed.

Requirements:
• Officer registration is a must (e.g., Ofsted-registered).
• Experience working with children with autism or additional needs is essential.
• A calm, nurturing, and patient approach.
• Must be reliable and punctual.
• Ability to drive is preferred due to the lack of night buses (parking is available), but it’s not essential.
• DBS check or willingness to provide one.
• References from previous childcare roles.

Schedule:
• Weekdays from 6:00 PM until late (exact timings to be discussed).
• No childcare needed on Thursdays.
