About Me

Hi, I’m Sophie and awaiting my Ofsted visit at the end of March, so I’m hoping to open the doors to my business- Petteridge Poppets, in April. I am a mum of 2, my son is 9 and my daughter is 17 months old. We live in Matfield with my husband, Alex, and our cat, Zinny. Our house is surrounded by apple orchards and we are lucky enough to have a playground within a 2 minute walk from our front door.

I offer full day care for babies and young children, Monday - Wednesday 8am - 5pm.

I am passionate about early years education and the vital role it plays in helping children to achieve their full potential and becoming well rounded individuals. As a qualified teacher with 14 years experience, I understand how important it is to meet the children's learning and development needs within the Early Years Foundation Stage.

Within my setting, I offer children a wide range of stimulating and engaging, play based, learning opportunities both inside and outside to help them learn and master core skills. This includes things such as baking, messy play, role play, singing, dancing and sharing books and stories. Time outside in nature is a big part of our day, being a lover of the outdoors we often visit our local parks and go exploring in the woodlands or orchards nearby.

Inside our house we have an Abundance of toys, from dress up to dolls, craft to construction. Imaginations can run wild with cars and garages, animal sets as well as more learning through play with board games.

There’s plenty of fun to be had out in the garden with the garden house, mud kitchen, water tray, slide, sandpit, see saw and ride-on toys.

As a mummy myself with two children, currently aged 9and 17 months, I understand the importance of finding the right setting for both you and your child. I hope to be able to offer just that. Please get in touch if you would like to come and see our setting.
