About Me

I am a dedicated and compassionate specialist childcare provider with extensive experience supporting children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) and Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. Currently studying for a BSc (Hons) in Psychology with Counselling at Bournemouth University (Maintaining a 1st Class), I have developed a strong understanding of child development, mental health, and well-being. My experience and qualifications includes a wide range of disabilities, including physical, intellectual, emotional, and social, allowing me to provide tailored support to meet each child's unique needs. I am passionate about creating a nurturing and inclusive environment where children feel safe, valued, and empowered to reach their full potential. My hands-on experience and academic knowledge enable me to deliver individualised care, emotional support, and structured interventions that supports growth and well-being in children of all abilities.

My Experience

I have over two years of experience working as a mental health and learning disabilities support worker, specialising in one-to-one support for individuals with complex needs. This role involved providing personalised care, assisting with daily activities, and helping individuals develop independence while managing their emotional and behavioral challenges. Through this role, I gained valuable experience in safeguarding, risk assessments, and behavior management, earning extra qualifications in managing challenging behavior. In addition to my support work, I completed over one year of placement at an additional needs school, where I worked closely with children with SEND and SEMH needs, supporting their education and social development. As a Children and Young Person’s Practitioner with Dorset Mind, I provide mental health interventions and coping strategies for children experiencing mental health challenges. My role as a Brook RSHE Advocate has also allowed me to contribute to discussions and educational content on important topics such as healthy relationships, accessibility, and inclusivity. My diverse experience across different settings has equipped me with the skills, patience, and empathy required to provide high-quality care and support to children with a wide range of needs.

My Qualifications

I am currently completing a BSc (Hons) in Psychology with Counselling, which has given me a strong understanding of child development, mental health, and applied psychology. I also hold a Level 3 Extended Diploma in Health and Social Care, where I achieved the highest grade, demonstrating my commitment to excellence in the field. Additionally, I have completed a Level 3 Diploma in Counselling, a Level 2 Certificate in Counselling Skills, and a Level 2 qualification in Children and Young People’s Mental Health, further enhancing my ability to support children with emotional and psychological needs. I am fully certified in Paediatric First Aid, hold an Emergency First Aid at Work (EFAW) certificate, and have an Enhanced DBS check on the update system, ensuring I meet all safety and safeguarding standards. I also hold a Full UK Driving Licence and have my own personal vehicle, allowing me to provide flexible and accessible childcare services. As a British Psychological Society (BPS) student member, I stay up to date with the latest research and best practices in child mental health and development, ensuring that I provide the highest standard of care and support.
