My Summary
About Me
Hello, my name is Madeleine and I am babysitter based in Manchester. I am currently an undergraduate at the University of Manchester where I study Politics and Modern History!
I am an active person and love getting outside, I have been playing netball since childhood and currently play on my University's History society team. I am also a keen reader, especially anything history related! Having achieved grades A*-A in Maths, English, Geography, History and Science GCSE, I am up to date with recent syllabuses so I would be happy to help your children with homework up to KS3.
I grew up in a busy household with three sisters, dogs, cats, and horses! Now that I live in a city, I frequently do hikes in the Peak District and I love anything that gets me in fresh air. This means that I could take your children on walks and encourage them to explore nature. I also have a full UK driving license, although I do not have access to my own car in the Manchester area.
I have completed an enhanced DBS check, safeguarding training, and the HM Government Prevent awareness course. All of these certificates have been awarded within the last 12 months.
My Experience
After completing extensive preparation, including a 2 day safeguarding course, the HM Government Prevent awareness course, and an enhanced DBS check, I worked as a house parent for an English Summer School across a two month period in 2024. This role required me to live on site, as the main care giver in a boarding house of 60 girls aged 8-17. All of these girls were international students who stayed with us for 1-4 weeks to learn English, I had to navigate communicating with children whose first language was not English. I worked 6 days a week where I was on duty 24/7, acting in loco-parentis to deal with any problems the children had such as home sickness. I lived in the same house as the girls, so I am used to being woken up at all hours of the night, acting quickly to treat sickness bugs or any problems they had. I was in charge of waking up the girls and getting them ready for lessons, break times when they'd return to the house, dining hall duty, and bed times. I am returning to this role for 4 weeks in summer of 2025. Aside from this, I have done after school pick ups and evening babysitting jobs in my local area for a variety of families with children aged 6 months to 7 years. This included cooking dinner for the children, helping with homework, and bedtime routines. I have also done overnight work and I am comfortable looking after children for longer periods of time.
My Qualifications
I have completed a two day safeguarding course for which a certificate was awarded by the British Council, I also completed the HM Government Prevent awareness course, and an enhanced DBS check. All of these have been awarded in the past 12 months.
