About Me
I love working with kids because they want you to be a big part of their lives. They have much smaller worlds when they are young and it is such an honour to be a key character in their childhoods. I aspire to be the person that they remember that helped them, the one that sat with them, even on their bad days and helped cheer them up with cookies and home-made meals and just listened to them when they needed that bit of reassurance from a more unbiased perspective.
My Experience
While I haven’t worked in any professional child-care settings, I am a mother myself to my amazing 1 year old daughter! This of course entails typical parenting duties (regular feeds, changes, frequent naps) I have also been the nanny of both my younger sister (currently 12) and also my niece (currently 6) for most of their lives. I looked after my niece for at least 4 days a week for almost 2 years when my sister had to go to work or when she wanted to go out with friends, I would play silly games with her to keep her occupied and happy, give her bottles when she was much younger and cooked her small meals when she got older, I checked and changed her nappy regularly, dressed her in the mornings and got her ready for bed in the evenings, read her books to fall asleep to and played interactive games with her to start sharpening her brain young. As for my sister, since where we didn’t live together it was hard to have so much experience with her, but my father would frequently ask me to watch her for a few hours a day every now and then which included picking her up from school, getting her changed, cooking her food and helping her with her homework before he got home from work, sometimes I took her on days out into the town to watch a movie or grab some food together, just classic bonding activities as she has grown older, which I would be happy to do with others!
My Qualifications
I don’t have any childcare qualifications but I am currently studying Pharmaceutical Science at University, and have completed 3 A Levels at Sixth Form (happy to help with homework!!)
My Availability
I am currently studying at University 2 days a week, Monday and Thursday, but any other day I can be of help! However, I unfortunately cannot offer overnight services due to having my own 1 year old daughter.
