About Me

I’m Isla, a postgraduate law student at BPP Waterloo. I previously studied Liberal Arts at Durham University and spent a year working in consulting. I’m an active, energetic, and responsible individual who loves working with children. I have extensive experience teaching sports and volunteering with kids, which has given me great patience, adaptability, and enthusiasm for engaging young minds.

Beyond academics, I’m very sporty—I play lacrosse and netball—and love staying active. I also enjoy reading, cooking, and I can drive, making me a reliable and capable babysitter. I pride myself on being organised, mature, and able to keep up with busy routines while ensuring a fun and safe environment for children. I'd love the opportunity to support your family!

My Experience

I have extensive experience working with children in a variety of environments. Throughout school, I regularly coached at holiday lacrosse and netball camps, leading fun and engaging sessions for young girls. For two years, I coached lacrosse twice a week at my local club, working with two age groups—7-10 and 13-16. My sessions were interactive and tailored to different skill levels, and as a result, I was asked to provide private lessons for some of the girls, which I successfully ran during the summer months.

Beyond coaching, I have also volunteered in roles that required patience, creativity, and adaptability. At Durham University, I worked weekly at a kids' club for the children of refugees, organising activities ranging from arts and crafts for younger children to football for older ones. Last summer, I spent a month in Ghana teaching sport and basic English to children aged 8-15. Managing classes of up to 40 students, I learned how to break down complex topics into engaging, digestible lessons that kept the children actively involved.

Additionally, I have experience babysitting for local families, ensuring a fun, safe, and structured environment for children in my care. My diverse background in coaching, teaching, and childcare makes me confident in my ability to provide reliable and engaging babysitting support.

My Qualifications

Although I don't have any teaching qualifications, I have a lacrosse coaching qualification. I also have my undergraduate degree.
