About Me

I’m Gwen (26F) and I’m German with Korean heritage and moved to London in 2017 to study law. After I graduated, I worked in various fields whilst in search of a suitable opportunity in human rights law, animal welfare or charities, until I decided to work as a veterinary receptionist. I plan to save up money to finance a vet med degree (to start in about 3-5 years’ time). For the past two years, I have been working at the vets, gaining a lot of insight into animal handling, pathology, post-operative care, prescription-only medication, and also worked as a professional live-in pet sitter (Very Important Pets) for multiple recurring clients.

I am quite introverted, and don’t like going out to large social gatherings, preferring catching up with close friends and mostly spending free time doing hobbies at home (knitting, crocheting, crepe paper flowers, drawing, etc.) Spending time with animals and children makes me happy, and since incorporating more of this time into my daily life, I feel that it has given my life a much deeper sense of purpose than before.

My Experience

I have 5+ years professional experience tutoring children and babysitting, and 2 years experience as a professional live-in pet sitter. I am a native speaker in Korean and German, speak English fluently, and have good command of Spanish. If I am able to, I would be more than happy to help your child retain their cultural heritage by speaking their mother tongue to them.

My experience includes the coordination of social welfare projects at Thuringia International School Weimar, such as 1) Lesefest, reading to middle school students with special educational needs, 2) Food drive for a local welfare group, 3) Auction and dance-a-thon fundraising for partner orphanage ‘Born Again’ in Kenya, 4) Refugee project, including homework help and free tutoring for Syrian children, and clothes donation.

My Qualifications

I have an LLB degree in English law, am fluent in 3 languages and am a certified first-aider (completion of EFAW course). I also hold a full German driver’s license, which is valid in the UK.

My Availability

My availability for work would be 3 days a week on Wednesdays, Saturdays and Sundays, with the ability to informally spend time with and look after your children other weekday evenings after my vet shift. I am happy to adjust my hours on the 3 working days depending on your needs.

My Fees

  • Babysitting from £12.21 per hour

The only requirement for me would be that it is a live-in position and you are happy with me continuing my work as a veterinary receptionist. In exchange, I would be happy with a low hourly rate for my childcare services (and pet sitting, tutoring if desired), at the current national living wage.

My Documents
