My babysitting experience over the course of a year means I've learned the nuances between safety and fun, as well as the intersectionality of human social systems. My Experience
Since joining this field over the course of a single year, I've met many families and projects from problematic to enjoyable. I had twins, four years old, with whom I worked for a few months; I helped them stay on daily schedules and create outdoor scavenger hunts, learning to collaborate and enjoy nature. One family had a timid five-year-old who had trouble communicating with his peers; I was with him for no less than one hour daily on a one-on-one basis painting and doing easy crafts to ensure his comfort and confidence levels to approach future friends. I've cared for children with special needs whose teams reached out to me to offer behavioral recommendations and structuring approaches to help them navigate larger social environments and fields. I've provided healthy meal and snack options and educational games that contribute to positive cognitive responses. I'm a great multitasker who gets everything done effectively while keeping children occupied and smiling, so families always welcome my presence.
My Qualifications
As a babysitter, I'm CPR and First Aid Certified. No matter the situation that might arise, I am trained to deal with it. I've undertaken a Childcare & Development course, so I know a lot about child mental and emotional development, and what activities and hobbies are appropriate for younger ages. I've been recently certified in Positive Discipline, meaning I've trained in a compassionate, yet assertive, approach to helping children learn boundaries and appropriate behavior, tantrum and sibling dispute avoidance. I've certified in Special Needs, meaning that I've babysat children on the spectrum and those with ADHD, so I've learned how to take a different approach based on the needs of the child. Regarding dietary restrictions and meal preparations, I know how to make lovely and healthy meals for children and can accommodate specific requests/needs. Finally, I've done a few workshops for play and creativity, meaning I can engage in enjoyable crafts and other projects through which children learn.
