About Me

I am a qualified primary teacher with a specialism in Early Years and Literacy/Phonics teaching. I believe education should be always be interesting, challenging and above all, fun. I encourage children to become confident learners by teaching them a 'toolbox' of techniques which they can apply not only in a 1-1 tutor scenario but also within their later learning.
I like to work with both the parents/carers and the child so that studies can continue in between tutor sessions. I also ensure that any materials used align with the child's within school schemes of learning (where applicable).
In my personal life, I enjoy being outside in nature, training my dogs and being creative with baking, art and music.

My Experience

I have over 10 years experience within Early Years and Primary teaching.
I currently teach Reception class within an Independent School. I also hold the position of Phonics Leader across the whole school - in this role I lead the education of Phonics (early Literacy/Reading) for children aged 3-11 years.

My Qualifications

I have a BA in Early Childhood Studies and a PGCE in Primary Education.
Prior to my teaching career I also studied a Foundation Degree in a dual honours of Neuroscience and Psychology. This learning base guides my passion for informed educational practice targeted around 'how' children learn to support achievements across all curriculum and extra-curriculum learning areas.
I hold a Paediatric First Aid Certificate.
I hold a current valid DBS Certificate.
