About Me
I am a fit and active retired teacher with DBS and I have two grown-up children. I teach EAL/ESOL some mornings, but I am able to pick up from school in Headington every day during term-time and do all the usual after-school activities, including tutoring, if required. I can drive, and I can be available for ad hoc babysitting given reasonable notice.
My Experience
I have taught children of all ages during my career, as well as doing activities and taking care of my own son and daughter and their friends when they were growing up. I know Headington Prep and NCS, in particular, very well, and I am familiar with the rhythms and routines of school life. I have learnt to build relationships of trust by listening carefully, being calm and kind, and by doing what I say I am going to do.
My Qualifications
I have O levels and A levels (French and English) and a Diploma in Ballet and Contemporary Dance (unfortunately, when I trained there were no degree courses offered in Dance). I have a TESOL Cert. and a Cert. Ed. I don't have any formal childcare qualifications, but I have a DBS on the update service and I have considerable experience with children.
My Availability
I am available after school during term-time until about 7.00.
