About Me

My name is Emma and I live in our lovely home with my wife, Alex, and our two daughters, Olivia (10) and Remi (0). We are incredibly blessed to have a home with a corner plot down a cul-de-sac in Bishopsworth, which means that our home is not only easily accessible due to being in the city, but also has a gorgeous garden which makes you feel like you're in the countryside.

My childcare style:
1. BEING ACTIVE: I love being active and outdoors and believe that there is no such thing as bad weather, just the wrong clothing! This means I make sure we always get outside for fun activities (our garden also has a covered veranda for those very stormy days!).
2. NOURISHING MINDS: I approach toddler behaviour with understanding, patience, and emotional support. When a child shows challenging behaviour, I focus on being present and responsive, helping them feel safe and understood. Instead of using consequences, I guide them through their emotions, validating their feelings while teaching appropriate ways to express themselves. I maintain consistent routines, set clear boundaries, and model respectful behaviour, ensuring the child knows they are supported and cared for. My goal is to help children develop emotional resilience and a secure attachment, laying the foundation for healthy social and emotional growth.
3. HEALTHY NUTRITION: I have many years experience as a head chef and as such have a passion for healthy, home-cooked meals made with whole foods and engaging kids in food preparation from as soon as they can hold a spoon!
4. DEVELOPMENT: I believe that every child develops at their own pace, and it’s important to nurture their unique strengths and interests. I take a holistic approach to development, focusing on all areas—arts, mathematics, communication and language, to name a few! Through play, I provide opportunities for exploration, creativity, and problem-solving, encouraging children to discover new skills and build confidence. Whether it's through art projects, sensory activities, or simple everyday tasks, I create an environment that promotes curiosity and independent thinking, and I focus on positive reinforcement and celebrating small milestones.
5. FUN! Kids are meant to have fun! I make sure that we not only learn but spend lots of time giggling, being silly and having an all round fab time.

My Experience

I’ve had a wide range of experiences working with children, and each one has helped shape the way I care for and connect with kids. I’ve worked as an au-pair, been a parent and godparent, and spent time in a nursery, so I’ve seen first-hand how children grow and develop in different environments. Being a parent myself has given me a unique perspective on childcare, and I’ve learned a lot from those “real-life” moments that can’t always be found in books.

I’m also genuinely passionate about understanding how kids think and grow, which is why I spend a lot of my free time diving into books and research on child psychology and development. (Books that have shaped me are "The Whole Brain Child" "The Power of Showing up" and "Gentle Parenting"). I think it’s important to keep learning and growing in this field, so I’m always looking for new ways to improve the care I give. Ultimately, my goal is to create an environment where children feel safe, supported, and excited to learn, while also having fun along the way.

I know that sending your child to childcare for the first time can be an emotional and challenging experience for both parents and children. That’s why I believe in being flexible and working closely with you to create a settling-in process that feels right for your family. Whether it’s starting with shorter sessions, offering extra reassurance, or being patient as your child adjusts, I’ll be there every step of the way. My goal is to make this transition as smooth as possible, ensuring both you and your child feel comfortable and confident as they begin their time with me. As I'm registered with a childminding agency, if you would like there is also an app where I can send you photo updates of what your little one is doing / eating / etc throughout the day. (It also makes the onboarding and payment process super easy.)
