As a woman and a mother, the nurturing side it's always present and with children is almost an instinct.
I love art! I find that children do too, it's the perfect way to get a little messy and find a different way to express themselves, create a feeling of accomplishment or simply just have fun with it. It's always nice to have a topic to focus on so that we can jump in into some learning without even noticing.
We all love food and some of us can be a little particular about the food we eat but it's nice to involve the children and have them help with fun tasks so that they can also from time to time feel involved in what they are eating and learn once again while having fun.
My Experience
Apart from all my professional experience, I am also the mother of a very kind-hearted boy, who has been my biggest teacher. Children really do keep your spirit young and alive.
I have worked in a private nursery, where I had the pleasure of working with children of all different ages across the three rooms: baby, toddler, and preschool. My main responsibilities were to create and maintain a safe environment for the children, ensure that their schedules and needs were respected and being met, and encourage them to read, exercise, and go on fun outings. I also used my mother tongue, Spanish, to teach the children a few words by repeating them every day and making them into a game.
I have also worked for Virgin Active Gym as an assistant for children's activities. There, I created safe and fun games for the children, hosted group parties, ensured that the children were fed and hydrated while playing and afterwards, and conducted settling sessions with parents and younger children or babies.
