About Me
I am an experienced Primary Teacher, with more than 15 years of experience teaching in schools, with a specialism in Special Educational Needs. I have been a qualified SENCo for 8 years.
My Experience
I have worked with children who are Neurodivergent and those with gaps in their chronological age group throughout my teaching career. I have additional experience of this in my role as a respite foster carer.
My focus as a teacher is to discover the individual child's strengths and interests and start by building a trusting relationship between the two of us. I then develop lessons to accommodate their needs and interests. I will always try to include a mix of storytelling, personal interests and practical activities in the sessions. Learning is most effective if it is play based and creative to engage the pupil but also has structure and scaffolding to ensure pupils reach the desired outcome.
I am confident in a range of scaffolding methods to support learners achieve the desired outcome.
In my role as a SENCo, I am aware of the EEF guidance and the most update methods to support all learners.
I have also been an emergency and respite foster carer for 2 years supporting children in the care system with a range of emotional and social needs.
