My Experience

I am a qualified Primary Teacher with four years of teaching experience and over eight years of supporting autistic children and young people in a variety of educational and play-based settings. My background includes working in mainstream primary and secondary schools, colleges, and inclusive playschemes—giving me a well-rounded understanding of how to support children across different age groups and developmental stages.

I’ve worked with both verbal and non-verbal children, adapting my approach to suit individual communication needs using tools such as Makaton and PECS. I’m also confident in creating structured, sensory-aware learning environments that support regulation, focus, and enjoyment. Whether it's helping a child feel calm during a play session or guiding them through a maths problem in the classroom, I always bring patience, creativity, and flexibility to meet their needs.

My playscheme experience has given me valuable insight into supporting children in less formal environments—encouraging social skills, independence, and emotional development through play. I’ve supported children with a wide range of abilities and behaviours, often working one-to-one to build trust, promote engagement, and help them feel included.

Across all settings, I work closely with families and support staff to ensure consistency, celebrate progress, and respond to each child’s unique strengths and challenges. I bring a warm, person-centred approach to tutoring, with a strong focus on communication, confidence-building, and nurturing a love for learning.

I have a Business management degree which I attained a 2 1 , a QTS and PGCE.
