My Experience
I am a dedicated and compassionate childcare and education professional with over 8 years of experience supporting children across a range of ages and needs. I began my career as a Nursery Nurse, where I worked primarily in the toddler room (ages 2–3), with occasional responsibilities in the baby (0–1) and preschool (3–5) rooms. My role focused on supporting children’s development through learning-through-play activities, fostering their social, emotional, and educational growth. I maintained high hygiene standards by thoroughly cleaning and disinfecting play areas and developed strong, caring relationships with both children and parents—earning consistent praise for the children's wellbeing and progress under my care.
For the past 8 years, I have worked in a primary school setting, providing 1:1 support for children with additional needs including ADHD, autism, Asperger's, global developmental delay, dyslexia, and speech and language difficulties (including non-verbal children). I work closely with class teachers and the SENCO to deliver tailored interventions and use a variety of strategies to support each child’s individual needs. My experience across different age groups has given me valuable insight into child development and equipped me with the tools to manage and de-escalate challenging behaviour effectively.
Additionally, I contribute to the school’s wrap-around care provision, working two days a week at the breakfast and after-school club. I have received training in supporting children with ASD, ADHD, and speech and language needs, safeguarding, mentoring, first aid, food hygiene, early childhood trauma, EpiPen,as well as RWI (Read Write Inc.) phonics training, which I apply daily in my role.
