About Me
Hi, my name is Kandice. I’m a Family Support Worker currently studying Social Work and training to become a Maternity Nurse and Postnatal Doula. I have years of hands-on experience supporting families ,particularly new mothers and babies ,both professionally and personally.
Before beginning my formal doula training, I was already providing doula-style support to mothers in my community. I’ve helped women through the postnatal period with emotional reassurance, feeding support, newborn care, and simply being a calm, trusted presence during those early, often overwhelming weeks. My background also includes nannying and early years childcare, where I’ve worked closely with babies and young children.
As a Family Support Worker, I work directly with families facing complex challenges, and I approach each situation with empathy, patience, and a trauma-informed mindset. I’m now expanding my skills through training with Antenatal Training UK to deepen my knowledge in postnatal care, sleep support, and maternal wellbeing.
I’m passionate about walking alongside families during this life-changing time.offering both practical support and a warm, non-judgemental space for parents to feel safe, heard, and supported.
My Experience
I have a strong and diverse background in supporting children, young people, and families in both professional and community-based settings. My experience includes both short-term and long-term care roles, with a focus on emotional and practical support for mothers, babies, and families in vulnerable situations.
• Currently working as a Family Support Worker, providing trauma-informed, one-to-one support to families with complex needs, including women affected by domestic abuse, homelessness, and safeguarding issues.
• Worked as a Children’s Residential Project Worker, supporting young people aged 4 to 18 in care, helping them build independence, manage emotions, and feel safe in a nurturing environment.
• Supported young people at risk of homelessness as a Supported Progression Officer, providing housing guidance, life skills coaching, and personalised support plans.
• Provided night nanny and emergency nanny care for families with babies and toddlers, offering support with feeding, settling, and sleep routines.
• Worked with long-term maternity nurse clients, providing consistent care and support during the postnatal period ,including newborn care, feeding assistance, emotional support, and helping parents build confidence.
• Delivered doula-style care both informally and through community connections ,offering support during pregnancy, postnatal recovery, and helping mothers emotionally and practically adjust to life with a new baby.
• Worked as an Early Years Practitioner, supporting children from birth to age five with play, development, routine, and emotional wellbeing.
