About Me
Hello, I'm Maureen Ward, an Ofsted-registered childminder with 19 years of experience, based in Laleham, Staines. I share my home with my husband, Phil, and our daughter, Abbie, both of whom are my assistants. We have two children and a granddaughter.
Our home features a spacious 130-foot garden, providing ample space for outdoor activities.
We are a non-smoking household and do not have any pets. I accept FEET and early years funding and am registered for childcare vouchers.
My hobbies are socialising, eating out and reading.
My Experience
As an Ofsted-registered childminder with a "GOOD" rating, I am committed to providing both care and education in a loving, stimulating family environment. I regularly attend training courses to keep my knowledge up to date. I am part of the Early Years Quality Improvement Award (QIA), a member of PACEY, fully CRB checked, and hold a current first aid certificate.
We follow the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) framework through fun and play.
We offer a home-from-home setting with a very large garden equipped with a variety of toys, pools, a playhouse, and more, providing ample opportunities for outdoor play and exploration.
Our daily activities include visits to toddler groups, engaging in various crafts, trips to soft play venues, local parks, and outings to woods, farms, and zoos. We also collaborate with other childminders to enrich the children's experiences. Most importantly, we ensure that the children have lots and lots of fun!!!
My Qualifications
I am a qualified first aider, a member of the PACEY, part of Early Years, completed Surrey’s QIA and have completed the ICP course (Introduction to Childminding Practices) and am booked to go training courses and have also completed various training courses with the PACEY. I am also chairperson for the local play group – Thameside Toddlers.
I can supply written references and my current families are more than happy to be contacted should you require.

Maureen has looked after my son for almost 18 months, since I returned to work when he was a year old. He has been so happy with Maureen and her whole family. Maureen's firm but fair approach, with plenty of love and affection, is exactly what I wanted for Edward and he has absolutely thrived with her. He is a bright, sociable little boy, who adores playing outside with all the amazing toys Maureen has to offer. Quite often, he doesn't want to leave when I pick him up!
Choosing child care is a really hard decision. We didn't know whether to go with a nursery or child minder, and I found it such a wrench to leave him at first. All I can say is that as soon as I met Maureen, I knew she was the right person. She is just as supportive to us as the parents as she is to Edward. Maureen understands the challenges of balancing working and family life, and really goes out of her way to accommodate your circumstances.
I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Maureen to anyone.

Maureen has been looking after my son for 2 and a half years, since he was 4 months old, and has always been absolutely amazing. She is kind and caring and always goes out of her way to accommodate changes that parents and children need. Maureen is flexible and always provides a high quality service, taking children to toddler groups, the children's center and out for the day. Her house is full of things for children of all ages, meaning there is always something for them to be getting busy with and doing, be it indoors or in the garden when the weather is good. There was never a day when my son didn't come home excited to tell me what he had been doing that day, and loves the whole family.
I would recommend Maureen to anyone, and couldn't have found anyone better to look after my son.

Maureen has been childminder for my daughter since she started primary school about 5 years ago. She is reliable and flexible and provides a very safe and caring environment for the children she looks after. All her minded children seem very happy to be dropped off there in the mornings and they clearly have lots of fun, with days out and plenty of activities including toddler groups etc so the children can interact with others their age. In the summer the children have the lovely big garden to play in. Maureen is very understanding of the challenges parents face with the logistics of working and bringing up children, and she goes out of her way to help where she can. The whole family are friendly and welcoming and there is a nice homely atmosphere for the children. My husband & I have been (and continue to be) very happy with the childminding provided by Maureen and would highly recommend her services.

Maureen has looked after both my children for five years and since they were very small, my second child at only 8 weeks. She has given them exceptional care throughout that time. Going back to work full time after having a baby is hard enough but Maureen made it much easier as I knew they were safe in her care. I've never had a day when they don't want to go either, from paddling pools in the garden or making biscuits on a rainy day, the children have a lot of fun.
I totally recommend Maureen's services to anyone. Both herself and her family are so accommodating and lovely to the children. I couldn’t have picked a better child minder.
