About Me

I am working as a part time Lecturer in a large regional College teaching social sciences and communication. I am also working as an academic tutor in St Andrews University.

My interests focus on child development and children's identity. I am experienced in providing excellent tutoring service whilst working in busy environments.

My Experience

For over ten years, I have gained extensive experience in education working in different educational settings in Scotland and abroad showing a genuine interest in special education.

I started my carreer in education as a Learning Assistant in mainstream and special schools providing support to children with autism and challenging behaviour. The aim of my work as a Pupil Support Assistant was to help children to develop as much independence as possible and as much ability to care for themselves as possible. In some children and young people's lives a PupilSupport Assistant will be one of the few adults offering unconditional warmth and respect, contributing to their fragile sense of self-worth.

Intrigued by the Scottish Educational System and in parallel with my Doctorate studies in Social Anthropology I moved to a Lecturer post in the Community and Supported Learning Department at a regional College teaching and assessing SQA and ASDAN courses. My role was to give my students the opportunity to build their confidence and develop their social and work skills appropriate to an employment setting. I currently work as a Part time Lecturer in Social Science and Essential Skills Departments and as an Academic Tutor in Social Anthropology at the University of St Andrews.

My role as an educator is to assist my students to reflect on their academic progress to date, including working with my students to identify their strengths and weaknesses in relation to academic study skills and encouraging my students to make plans and take up opportunities to develop these. Besides, I help my students to make decisions in relation to their course and to connect with other academics in their field of study. Also, through these posts I have gotten the opportunity to enhance my skills in providing constructive feedback to my students, assisting my students to understand the value of feedback and aiding them in developing skills to reflect on their own skills and experience.

Finally, living in Edinburgh while studying in St Andrews University and working in Fife, Dundee and Arbroath, has allowed me to develop my resilience in working in tight timescales and exercise my skills in efficient time management and planning.

Always punctual. Very kind, positive, and caring person with professional approach and understanding of child's needs. Keeps my child with ASD very comfy, curious and willing to learn more. My child is waiting for the next time he will see Olympia. Would highly reccomend this tutor to anyone.
