My Summary
About Me
Hi,
I am Teresa, a mum to two boys aged 26 and 19. I live near Rochester, Kent.
I like to prepare home cooked meals and snacks which children enjoy.
I have recently begun an online course for Montessori learning, a fascinating theory which children enjoy and are inspired and engaged by focusing on key developmental stages. Montessori encourages cooperative play, child centered learning, learn self discipline naturally, inspires creativity, develops certain skills, focused hands on learning.
I work as a self-employed Ofsted Reg Live-out nanny and will come to your home to care for your children.
I have been registered since April 2011 and hold a 'GOOD' Ofsted report.
I have a current paediactric first aid qualification.
I have an Ofsted DBS check
I am fully insured.
I attend toddler groups and childminding groups with other children and Nannies/childminders
I enjoy taking the children out as much as possible so they can enjoy the fresh air!
My hours are 7am - 6pm Tuesday - Friday including school holidays, I can be flexible.
The importance of outdoor learning is recognised by the EYFS in terms of the positive impact it can have on children’s well-being and development. Parents want their children to spend more time outdoors and to go on more outings. I hope you will be delighted to imagine that while your child is with me, they aren’t spending their days stuck inside one crowded little room at a nursery. Instead, your child is spending his or her childhood having a marvellous time, enjoying the great outdoors!
I am a member of the Forest Childcare Association.
Forest Childcare is about giving small children the opportunity to spend time in the great outdoors on a regular basis. Our daughter was cared for by Teresa for over a year, from one year old. She settled in very quickly, getting on well with Teresa and her family. Teresa is warm and caring, she is dependable, reliable and was flexible to suit our needs. She is very knowledgeable about bringing up children and offered us good advice on many issues. There is never a dull moment, Teresa takes the children out every day, to toddler groups or on outings. We are extremely happy with the care Teresa gave our daughter.
Teresa currently looks after my little boy, aged 1 and a half, and I can recommend her one hundred per cent to anyone looking for childcare in Gravesend.
Teresa is an outgoing, cheerful and active person who keeps her mindees occupied with a wide variety of activities, many of them out in the fresh air. My son is taken to lots of regular toddler groups around town for play time and socializing with other kids, as well as to parks, zoos, events, and once even to a local Christmas panto. He frequently comes home with lovely treats: cupcakes he helped make, flowerpots he helped plant, small toys Teresa bought him on an outing - and lots of artwork.
The setting is great; Teresa lives in a nice street with a comfortable house (with a wide variety of toys and books) and a lovely little back garden where the kids can play. But the kids are out and about mostly so there isn't a lot of time stuck at home, which we like.
Teresa's own children are very sweet and her youngest is like a big brother to my son, who doesn't have siblings of his own.
Two things in particular we value about Teresa as a childminder. First, she is studying for a Masters degree in early education, so she is very interested in learning about nurturing and developing children to their full potential. and putting those theories into practice. My son is clearly happy and flourishing under her care, and learning lots of words. Second, she is very flexible. My husband and I commute to and from London each day, and the few times something's gone wrong with the trains, she was very relaxed about a later pickup. She also lives within walking distance to the station which is helpful.
