About Me

I am a single parent with 3 teenagers living at home.
I am trying to work more than part time as a professional in psychology & mental health. I am warm, creative and open minded, and have lots of love for nature and animals. Working with my family is a special experience.
I am a SEND specialist therapist and educator, and can provide expert guidance, training and support to anyone willing to take on this exciting challenge.

My Requirements

Babysitter
Part Time Nanny
Special Needs Experience
Mothers Help

Are you FLEXIBLE? Are you looking for AN UNUSUAL AND INTERESTING ROLE?

I am looking for someone understanding and flexible who can support me with my teenage children with Special Needs at home.
T is 16 and is autistic with learning disabilities and attends a local area special school. T is really into Mario, Wrestling and enjoys going to the park to swing. T sometimes needs company but not always: I need for someone to be present in the house when I am not available. I especially need for someone responsible to ensure he takes his medicine and to help him with personal care, like reminding him to get washed, checking his bed is fresh at night, and doing some simple medical care.

B is 13 and autistic with ADHD. B has had a hard time fitting in to mainstream school, and soon will be attending a specialist autism setting. B is funny, friendly and enjoys being around people who don't judge. B sometimes struggles with sensory input & can display challenging behaviour such as swearing.

My oldest teen at home is 18 & at college. She is considered a young carer but this is too much for her to take on while she is studying A levels.

I have some opportunities to travel with work and am hopeful that I can find someone who could be present for my children in the afternoon after school, and evening to support medicine and bedtime routines, perhaps just checking in, and in the mornings for the same purpose, and during term time, helping T get to and from school (currently I drive my son to his SEN school in Loughborough).

Basic duties
Checking in on the kids before and/or after school and at bedtimes
Ensuring medication is taken at the prescribed times
Help with simple personal care tasks
Some household tidying
Some simple food preparation and shopping
Some support with activities
Responding to emergencies (I would provide guidance/training)

It is a changeable role, and I am willing to offer you a generous rate of £14p/h for daytime 7am-9pm hours, and £16p/h for overnight hours after 9 and before 7 a.m.

It may be that you would like to consider the role but cannot meet all the requirements: please get in touch to discuss with me how we might be able to help one another.

Our last nanny wrote this

"I have had the privilege of being a nanny for this lovely family since January (2018) and have often had so much fun doing crafts, painting, and being given very dramatic roles (in games I have no clue about) that a lot of the time it didn't feel like work at all. For someone who thinks they are interested in this job, I would say you'd be crazy not to take it.
But you've also got to be a bit crazy to take it...
Like all children, each of these kids have their own unique talents and interests and its so cool to be included in these, so make sure you're up for getting involved and not just supervising; you'll gain a pretty unique skill set if you do.
T will be your harshest critic, but also your biggest fan when it comes to anything video game related.
B will draw all the 'boring adult' out of you when he includes you in one of his pretending games; i don't think i had every fully realised how difficult being a ninja-spy was until I took this job. If you are given a role you are expected to show nothing less than full commitment.
TY has some of the most creative and original ideas and is up for any game or challenge that provides her with an opportunity to pursue these.

Remember too; be flexible, be open minded, be patient - have fun and dont take anything that us said mid tantrum personally. If you can do this, you'll do great.
I've loved working for this family from my first day. Most of the time there is a relaxed friendly environment filled with family love and lots and lots of laughing. Due to the needs of these children, be prepared for this to change in less than a second but also know it never lasts, and calms as quickly as it starts. Also, the children's friendship and understanding of one another is something pretty amazing."
