About Me
I am a single parent of a 12 year old boy with Down’s Syndrome. He also has a hearing impairment, ADHD and some mental health issues. He currently attends a special school having spent his primary schooling in mainstream.
My Requirements
I am looking for a carer or two to work sessionally. We receive funding from social services for a carer to provide support each week. We have two existing carers but they are not always able to work the hours needed due to their commitments. Ideally I am looking for someone who has the energy and enthusiasm to run around after my son, play football, take him skateboarding and generally help keep him active. The role may also entail babysitting at home or joining us on a day trip to somewhere like Drayton Manor or Alton Towers. Willingness to go on spinning rides would be helpful! Anyone interested in this role would need to have a DBS check through social services. Special needs experience would help (especially knowledge of Makaton) but is not essential. Most hours will be at weekends or in the school holidays.
