My Summary
About Me
Hello. My name is Diane and I am an Ofsted Registered Childminder which in February 2020 Ofsted have given a rating of 'Good'.
I have been childminding since 2012. I am married and have 2 children, born in 2006 and 2009, and live in Barleythorpe, Oakham. My children are both at Catmose College.
I provide a happy, safe and stimulating homely atmosphere for all children. I want to encourage learning through play and offer a wide range of activities, toys and books to help stimulate and entertain them. I encourage messy play with paints, play dough etc, and creativity through Art. I also have a degree in Textile Design.
I supply healthy hot and cold meals, snacks and fresh fruit and am registered with the Food Standards Agency to provide home cooked meals. I feel it is important to educate children about healthy food and involve them in making lunch and baking.
I am happy to take children to groups and activities and soft play areas at no extra cost to the parents.
We have 2 dogs, Ripley and her son Hudson, they have been used to me childminding since tiny puppies so are very good with the children. They are both chocolate labradoodles, even though Hudson is a little bigger than we expected.
My Experience
My main experience is that I have 2 children of my own. I used to work part time and used childminders between 2008 and 2012 so I bring the experience I got from them and apply it to my own childminding.
Both my husband and daughter are Ceoliac (allergic to wheat and gluten) and so I have experience in dealing with special dietary needs. My daughter also has a peanut allergy (with Epipen).
My Qualifications
Level 3 Diploma for the Early Years Workforce (Early Years Educator) Completed December 2018

Level 2 Award in Food Safety for Catering.
I am educated to degree level, have 1 A level and 8 GCSE's.

Diane has been looking after my 1 year old daughter for 3 months now and my daughter is always so happy to arrive. Really pleased with Diane’s childcare services.
Diane has been looking after my two children Ollie 11 and Bel 9 for the past two years after a big move from Cornwall to Oakham. As a single parent, in a new place, her help, support and kindness has been invaluable to us as a family. My children enjoyed all the home comforts of great food, lovely surroundings and a mixture of ages of children to play and grow with, and have become great friends with Diane's children.
School holidays proved tricky for me and Diane took everything in her stride helping me to keep the children fully occupied with fun days out, gardening and cooking activities, games and chill out time in the perfect combination. I highly recommend her services.
Diane looked after my 3 year old son for 9 months. Due to a house and job move all at the same time I was very anxious that he would take a while to settle down. I needn't have worried Diane's environment was ideal for him she has a relaxed approach whilst maintaining her high professional standards he bonded well with her own children as well as the other minded children in her care easily.
They participated in many toddler groups throughout the week I received a new piece of art work every day. They frequently went to the local parks in all weathers which my son loves. Regular visitors to the local soft play.
Since his time with Diane my son has learnt a whole host of new skills from creative skills like baking and painting right through to social skills and speech and language development.
My son attended Diane's setting during her most recent offstead inspection and it really is easy to see why she received such high praise from the inspectors. Every child in her care is treated like and individual with all of their needs met as she takes the time to get to know each one she adapts her care around them.
I have been a working mum since my son was 6months old and I have now given up work to look after my son myself as I feel I have spent enough time away from him. However if I was to continue to work I would not hesitate to entrust my children with Diane she is a kind and caring professional person who we all miss greatly.
Diana looked after our 5 year old son in 2015
During that time, he received exceptional levels of care from Diane and was made to feel like a member of the family, with home cooked meals, lots of stimulation in a safe, caring and creative environment. Diane offers the ideal balance of friendly, professional care for your children and we can't recommend her more highly.
Diane looked after my first daughter from 1 year of age until she was 2.5 and went to nursery on a regular basis and has looked after her on occasion since. She very quickly established a close bond with her. I never had tears on the doorstep and in the early days on a number of occasions my daughter held out her arms to Diane upon leaving and didn't want to come home and latterly it has been difficult to drag her away. Diane treated my daughter as one of her own and I know that she is attentive to children in her care, as people have fedback to me where they have seen her at various groups with nothing but positive comments. Diane spends lots of time on creative activities and everyday I had colouring to take home and often lots of handprints which I love. She also goes to a different park on most days and there was always lots of garden time. For a limited time Diane also cared for my younger child until she moved and again my daughter very quickly established a bond and we were very disappointed to lose such a maternal and trustworthy childminder. I would have no hesitation in recommending Diane as a childminder and now consider her to be a friend too. My children will miss her and her family very much.
