My Summary
Clare Hawkins ~ Little Treasures Childminding ~ Holbrooks Coventry.
About Me
Hi there,
I’m a childminder on Holbrook Lane in Coventry (CV6 4 area); Conveniently located on the main route from the city centre to junction 3 of the M6.
Our home is close to Holbrook’s park and many local amenities including the Holbrook 'Library on the park' and within walking distance of the arena shopping park.
I share my home with my partner of 29 years, our 12 year old son and our 10 year old cat (excellent with all ages, very lazy and sleeps most of the day!)
I currently provide childcare for Early years children (0-5 years) only. I do not provide before, after-school or holiday care for older children.
I have 22 years of childminding experience in our current home and 27 years’ experience of working with children aged 0-13 years within different settings including schools, nurseries and as a nanny in private homes.
I am passionate about the home from home childcare service that I provide and take a Hygge and Montessori inspired approach to the care and education that I offer.
The children are encouraged to explore and discover, create and build, seek adventure from their own curiosities and wonder, and to form fantastic friendships.
Nature and the great outdoors play an enormous role in our day to day activities as I strongly believe nature can offer so many opportunities for learning and adventure.
Our garden has an abundance of wildlife such as birds, squirrels, the occasional friendly hedgehog and foxes.
The children are encouraged to observe and play an important role in feeding etc.
We have a sensory area, 'Dino-land', construction/digger land, play hut/den/house and lots lots more.
We also have two allotment plots that are less than a mile from the house, giving us the opportunity to go on lots of adventures in a familiar but ever changing environment, and providing us with the opportunity to learn about and grow the majority of our own fruit, veg’, herbs and salads. Not forgetting the Halloween pumpkins.
Indoors, we have a vast amount of resources and the children are encouraged to explore and learn at their own pace. I am a keen promoter of open-ended play and child-led learning and endeavour to provide a calm and friendly environment in which the children feel confident to explore and play an active part in the setting.
‘Curiosity’, ‘treasures’, ‘wonder’, ‘magic’ and ‘adventure’ are words we use daily in our play.
I am fully registered to provide government funding for children aged 9 months to 5 years and Tax-free childcare.
Thank you
My Experience
I have been a childminder for almost 22 years since registering with Ofsted in October 2003. Before that, I worked in a day nursery, 2 primary schools (including SEN), ran a church creche' and spent a number of years employed as a Nanny for numerous families.
I have cared for children with many additional needs over the years and have experience in adapting my provision to suit each individual child. I have experience of adapting my provision for children with autism, developmental delay, visual and physical impairment and I have vast experience and knowledge of speech and language development.
I have recently (early 2025) completed training to become a ‘Coventry communications champion’ within the early years sector, allowing me to ensure I can offer the best learning experience and environment to all children.
I have experience of working in partnership with different therapeutic teams such as play therapy and will always adapt my provision to ensure the children’s needs are fully met.
The experiences gained as a parent to two daughters, now aged 24 and 21 and a son aged 12 are un-measurable.
As is the experience I have gained in the last 22 years of caring for almost 100 children aged 3 months to 5 years.
Everyday is / has been a new adventure and I have loved / love every moment of it.
