About Me
I am an Ofsted registered childminder. I am a mum of two children and I live with my children and husband in East Finchley. As a childminder my aim is to provide a safe and caring environment for children to develop.
Available places:
At present I have a part time and full time places for 0-2 years and after school places for 3-11 years old.
My Experience
I have been working as a childminder for the past 15 years. I am experienced in working with children in nursery settings, Parent and Toddlers Group and after school clubs.
My Qualifications
I have NVQ Level 3 in Childcare, First Aid,Food Hygiene and Child protection Course etc.

Monday to Friday (7.00am to 7.00pm)

Rafia (Sumona) put me at ease within minutes of meeting her.
She welcomed me & my daughter into her home and was so open and easy to talk to.
Handing my daughter over to a stranger was hard for me (I was pregnant & it was very emotional for me) but Rafia was so great with my daughter and settled and comforted her so well. She also was very good at comforting me and re-assuring me with pictures through-out the day...
My little girl came home every day so happy. She always ate & slept well and Rafia was very accommodating with extra naps and little tricks/routines like we had at home to help settle. My daughter brought artwork home, had fun on the slide and swing in her back garden, planted vegetables and flowers, did yoga along with so much more and had the interaction with there fabulous children on a small intimate level unlike a nursery or creche. Her husband and children were present and my little one really enjoyed their company...
We have recently moved country and had to say good-bye to Rafia and it was one of the hardest good-byes. She looked after my baby like she was her own and I'll never forget that.
A true gem! <3 Thank you Rafia.

Rafia (Sumona) has been truly a Godsend to us! My son has been in her care since he was 9 months old; 5 years on he still adores going to hers after school and during holidays.
Rafia has a caring and loving personality and is a nurturing, kind-hearted, experienced childminder. She magically combines a strict no- nonsense approach to behaviour with warmth and tenderness. Children in her care become assertive but kind.
Rafia creates fun, educational and stimulating environment and is attentive to development opportunities and logs these, so I never feel I miss out on important milestones. My son excels in school and I'm sure that part of his success is owed to his wonderful childminder who supported me enormously to build his character by encouraging him to be inquisitive, passionate and tenacious.
He always compliments Rafia's cooking and I love the fact that she exposes children to various cuisines and flavours. Never a boring meal at Casa de Rafia!
I can go on and on but surely the best recommendation comes from her little "client " himself: " I love Rafia "

My childrens start going at Rafia since they were 1 year and 1 year and 1 month (i have a daughter she will be 6 this year and a son ,he's 3).
It helps me alot to know that my childrens are in a safe,clean,good and lovely house with a wonderful family.
They improved their language, as it was diffucult to speak 2 languages.I truly appreciate Rafia's patience to take care of them,we are very grateful to have her and her family.
They feel safe,they are well looked,they made good progress and learn alot.
My chidren play in Rafia's garden,they have alot of activities and made alot of friends,they enjoy Rafia's food and I also ask for some recipes that they like alot.
You (Rafia)are like a big sister to me and i learn alot off things aswell being almost by myself in a foreign country.
We love you and thank you for you devotion,patience qnd strengh!🥰🤗🙏

Rafia has looked after my twin daughters since they were a year and a half. Being a first time mum with twins heading back to work, leaving my girls somewhere they could feel at home, was so important. Two years later, Rafia has become such a big part of their/our lives. They honestly see her as family.
They have learnt and grown so much in such a nurturing environment. Most importantly, there has always been great communication between myself and Rafia. I couldn't recommend her childcare services more!

My daughter started when she was 11 months old. I had no experience with a childminder before and hence I was quite nervous about leaving my child all day. But I have to say Sumona(Rafia) has been the most caring, nurturing and supportive childminder next to a mother to my child. She is a doting mother herself and that reflects in her nature and the way she looks after all the children in her care.
My daughter loves Sumona(Rafia).She is the happiest when she’s at her place with her other friends. She has a lovely time and frankly I’m sad now that my daughter starts primary school and will be leaving her care.
I never had to worry about her care, cognitive and emotional development or her health at any point as I always received detailed feedback with reports of her wellbeing everyday. Sumona(Rafia’s) setting is very homely, clean, extremely child friendly and she also has a beautiful veggie patch and my daughter learnt a lot about gardening, flowers, plants and caring for them.
My daughter loves her food and she has been a picky eater at home but never at her childminders. Overall I’ll say I was very lucky to have found her as I cannot imagine trusting anyone else as much as I trusted Sumona(Rafia) with my daughter.

My son started with Sumona when he was 10 months old. Like every mother, I was nervous about going back to work and leaving him but I need not have worried. Sumona is exceptional at what she does and my son absolutely adores her. Sumona’s house is warm and welcoming and she has a living room full of toys and learning resources. When I collect my son, she tells me what he has done that day. She often takes them for trips to the playground and he always comes home nice and tired after a busy day! Sumona is mother herself as well as having many years of childcare experience so she is kind and nurturing and my son thinks of her as family. I trust her implicitly and could not recommend her highly enough.

I was lucky enough to find a space at Rafia's when my son was just five months old. Rafia was very caring and provided a homely environment for him and he very much enjoys going to her house every day, particularly as he loves playing with the other children she looks after. I was initially worried about leaving him because he was so young but Rafia made me feel comfortable that he was being taken care of. She also had a lot of advice as he grew older about different foods to try and ways to encourage him to eat. We are only leaving Rafia's because we are moving to a different part of London and we will all miss seeing her everyday, particularly our son.
