My Summary
About Me
I have been registered as a childminder since January 2007 and love my job! I am very proud of my grading of 'outstanding' at every inspection for how children enjoy and achieve in my setting. I feel that it is so important for children to be happy in a comfortable and secure environment while their parents are at work.
I live in a colourful 4 bedroom house in the westside of Welwyn Garden City in walking distance of Applecroft School. I use all of my rooms downstairs for childminding - so it is like home from home for the child, and very spacious! I have a large garden with a playhouse, slide and castle. There are plenty of outdoor opportunities for messy play and gardening.
I work with a small group of under 5s so really get to know your child. I know a lot of parents worry that their 3/4 year olds are not ready to start full days at nurseries: childminders are trained to provide education right up to school age so your child can benefit from learning from the same curriculum as a nursery school with the added benefit of creative and fun outings on a regular basis! Plus they have access to quiet sleep areas when needed, ensuring a happy and educated child when they do need to state school at 5.
I can offer 15 hours free funding for 3 and 4 year olds, and eligible 2 year olds as well as 30 hours for qualifying families.
I run before and after school sessions, collecting from Applecroft School. It’s a happy gentle home- like setting, giving the children a much needed break from their school day.
My Experience
I am a degree educated and Level 3 childcare practitioner with over 20 years childcare experience. I have worked with children in a variety of settings, in a nursery, preschool and schools. This means that I have an excellent understanding of children's learning and developmental needs. Your child can receive all their preschool education from me - nurseries and childminders follow the same curriculum, and I have many years of providing it. Teachers tell me when my children join them at age 4-5 they are very well prepared for the beginning of their school education.

I moved to Wgc two years ago and had to leave my old job back in London, I was very nervous with going back to work due to childcare. I met a few child care providers which I found lovely but was unsure who to go with until I met Alicia something just clicked I loved her personality and fairy tale feel home. Alicia has been looking after my boys for 10 months, I have absolutely no regrets with choosing her to care for my children they settled in very quickly and really look forward to going to her. Alicia makes sure they have plenty to do during their time there wether it’s fun out door activities, children’s social clubs or indoors arts and crafts, she is also very educational my children have learnt so much in the time they have been with Alicia. I am also kept updated on their progress and what they have been up to each day. I would highly recommend Alicia I am very happy and grateful for the love she puts in to looking after my boys.
