My Summary

My Experience

I have three adult children. I also have three granddaughters aged 17, 13 and 7 so I have life experience of all age groups. My eldest granddaughter is autistic which can sometimes be challenging but also very rewarding. I am also very comfortable looking after babies.

My Qualifications

I have experienced all the different age groups of bringing up three adult children (2 girls and 1 boy) and been heavily involved with my three granddaughters. I am very comfortable with children and able to use my initiative and common sense when caring for them.

I am currently working with a family where the parents are separated and the father has the children every fortnight. I pick up a 9 year old boy from school and then look after him. His 13 year old sister is independent but I am available if needed. Any spare time is used for making beds, tidying up, emptying the dishwasher, ironing and putting away clothes and cooking.

I am also involved with a couple of other families doing ad hoc babysitting, mainly on an evening.

Prior to this I had been with a family for 8 1/2 years (with a break in the middle of about 2 years). In July 2022 they relocated outside London. I worked with them latterly three afternoons a week. On Monday I would pick up the three children from school (Honeywell), and then make sure their homework was done. On Tuesday i would go in before school and do ironing. After school I would keep the children occupied and make them something to eat. On Thursday I would do school pick up, take them home and keep them occupied and make their tea. Mum was sometimes around and we worked very well together. In the good weather I would take the children to the common with a picnic and play with them. I also took them/collected them from some of their after school clubs, mum would also do the same. I babysat evenings for them on a regular basis. I was also able to help out in emergencies, for example if they needed the children taking into school the odd morning or to stay longer some evening if mum or dad weren’t home. When I first started with the family, I worked two full days a week until the eldest child went to nursery and then I worked two days with the second child. When the third child came along I was unable to work for them full time as requested so there was then a gap. When their little boy was three and started nursery at school full time, I started doing the afternoon school run three days a week. The reason the relationship with this family lasted so long, was because of the flexibility both myself and the parents had with each other and a mutual respect.

During this time I also worked for another family for about a year looking after one child one morning a week while mum attended a yoga class and other appointments.

I worked for another family with a small baby two mornings a week plus evening babysitting and also babysitting for friends they recommended me to.

I took the children to Bertie Boo, one o'clock club, nursery time at the library, swings, commons, parks, playgroups. If the children have naps I help with household chores, dishwasher, ironing, sterilising bottles, etc.

I am friendly, honest, punctual, practical and flexible.

My Availability

I like to work on an ad hoc basis. Occasional morning/afternoon, evening babysitting or emergency care. I am available most days and evenings for babysitting.

My Fees

• Babysitting from £12.50 per hour
