About Me
Hi i have been a registered childminder since may 2010, and set up Dreamcasters childcare shortly after. Before this i was looking after children through various avenues, sports clubs, holiday clubs and then in 2008 i started to care for a 5 month old within her own home who had learning difficulties.
I live in stanford le hope (15 minutes from lakeside shopping centre) in a 3 bedroom house with my son age 15 and 6 and my husband.
I have currently started using a new online system for my business which is proving very popular its called Babys Days and i can register all children online and parent can follow their childs progress via login into the system whenever they feel the need. I upload pictures and daily diaries so all can be seen. I have found this has cut down on lots of paperwork and makes life a lot easier for me and parents and leaves me with more time for the children in my care.
I have a dedicated playroom with low level storage units so the children can make selections about what they wish to play with.
I have a garden for outside play with lots of toys which are dedicated to the garden.
We have 2 rabbits which i encourage the children to interact with if they wish and we all help to care for them with the feeding and cleaning out of them.
We take part in lots of activities, we do lots of baking, painting, planting of vegetables (and of course eating them when we harvest them). A favourite topic of all the children has to have been a topic on carnivals, whereby we looked at our local carnival and then looked at notting hill carnival. We made our own instruments dressed up, made collages of people in bright costumes, we made a mini carnival float and then we had a mini parade in our local neighbourhood where all the children dressed up and used their instruments.
My Experience
As well as being a mum for 15 years i have worked with children firstly as a swimming teacher and then in a sports club in school holidays.
I have mixed ages on each day that i care for and am happy to care from anywhere from 3 months to 12 years.
