About Me
Hi my name is Bernadette (usually known as Bernie). I have 3 grown up children and 2 grandchildren. I am a non smoking household and have been been DBS checked. I hold a current Paediatric First Aid Certificate which is renewed every 3 yrs,
I am OFSTED registered graded GOOD. I work towards the EYFS framework that is mandatory for all early years providers. I hold a current Paediatric First Aid Certificate which is renewed every 3 yrs .I have over 30 years experience working with children of all ages and I have a long standing commitment to the Girl Guiding association as Brown Owl and Guide leader. In past I have also worked for Sunderland Council as Play Scheme Worker.
I provide the children in my care a home from home environment , with lots of fun .activity.craft’s and outdoor gun.I provide a safe environment and I have a dedicated room for the children to play in and a garden. I work closely with parents to provide a safe, happy, healthy environment that will allow your baby/child to develop and learn new skills through play - at their own individual pace. I believe parents are the child's main educators and they know their children's needs better than anybody.
Activities on offer will be: Homework, Drawing/Coloring and Painting, Baking, Gardening, Collage, Model making, Crafts, Sewing. Interactive games, Books, Storytelling, Seasonal activities, Games,Puzzles, Jigsaws. Outdoor activities,visits to Museums and Art Gallery's. Local toddler groups. I will focus on individual activities that are of interest to the children.
I have put together a parent information sheet outlining my services - please let me know if you would like me to e-mail you a copy. I offer home from home flexible care and school holiday cover and I can offer an only school holiday contract if parents so wish.
My Experience
I have been operating as an OFSTED Registered Childminder for over 12 years
I run a very successful Brownie and Guide Unit in Sunderland carrying out weekly activities, that include Badge Work, crafts, games, visits to the Fire station, Police Station, Seven Stories. Yearly Pack Holiday and Guide Holiday.
For 4 years I worked for Sunderland Council as a Play Scheme Worker going into schools and libraries in the area after school, encouraging children to read and doing activities around stories. During school holidays I ran a play scheme in various sports halls and attended the Air Show, Houghton Feast and Christmas lights, with the Play Bus.

My Availability
I am available from 7.00 am until 18.00 pm Monday to Thursday
Friday 7.30 am until 16.45 pm (as this is Brownie Night)
School holiday and term cover
I can offer a school holidays only contract if you wish
Hours flexible upon request
