About Me
My name is Joanna I am a registered Child-minder of Royal Oak childminding. As a registered Child-minder, I provide a service that allows Children to learn, play and develop in a safe secure home based environment. Play will be at the centre of the child’s learning and development.
My family consists myself and my four children. My son’s are aged 23yrs, 12yrs, 9yrs and 5year. My house is situated in a quiet street situated at the bottom of Machen Mountain, with ample parking for parents.
We have a large enclosed garden with grassed and patio areas. It is a 10-minute walk to the local park and recreation ground and 15-minute walk to the local school, Machen Primary school. I am also able to travel to other schools in the local areas if needed as stated below.
I have a clean driving licence and a 9 seater minibus with ample car seats to suit all stages of development
My objectives are to:
Provide an safe and secure environment for your child.
Provide a clean environment in which your child can play and learn.
Provide stimulating activities that are appropriate to the age of your child.
Encourage creativity, self-expression and imagination through various games & activities.
Promote your child’s good behaviour through praise, encouragement and guidance.
Encourage and develop language and communication through a range of play, story telling and other activities.
Develop dexterity and co-ordination through a variety of fun activities.
Be a positive role model and promote social skills, encouraging courteous behaviour and respect for others.
Develop moral values that promote consideration for individual and cultural differences.
Provide a healthy diet.
I also encourage mums if breastfeeding and have a quiet comfortable place if needed to do so ?
My Experience
My service is open to all children and families, I have 18 years experience working with children aged 0-16yrs 10 of those years working as a Teaching assistant in Pupil referral units in England and Wales including boarding schools, my area of expertise is Additional learning needs, I also have personal experience raising my own children.

My Availability
I visit the local playgroups in Machen, Trethomas, Bedwas music group and Machen library on a weekly basis and run Machen Monkeys with a fellow childminder, I also visit Machen Welsh toddler group. I take part in other activities such as nature walks as there are many beautiful walks in the local area.
As a registered Child-minder, I am able to care for children from birth to teens between the hours of 6am to 6pm later times can be arranged with flexibility Monday to Friday and weekends on request throughout the year with personal holidays are given a year in advance.
School pick up can be arranged at any school within the Caerphilly area. Machen, Bedwas infants & juniors, Graig yr rhacca, Ysgol y Castell.
I am registered to care for up to 10 children under the age of 12yrs.

Hours of work are subject to the individual and requests.
I like to work in close partnership with parents to meet the individual needs for each child in my care, and will adapt and negotiate each contract so it meets the needs for parents and children.

My daughter has been staying with Joanna on and off when needed for years and loves visiting. Lots of toys, a nice big garden and lots of fun. I cannot fault Joanna as a childminder and would recommend her to everyone.

Joanna has been amazing with my two kids; I couldn’t of asked for a better childminder. Always kind and willing to help and my two little ones love her and have developed so much more in themselves since being with her. Thank you very much.

Jo is brilliant with my 2 children. They adore her and they love being at her house. She’s flexible, approachable and just really kind. Nothing is too much trouble for her. I can’t recommend highly enough.
