My Summary
About Me
I am an enthusiastic, dedicated and qualified Norland Nanny with ten years experience. I love working with children to help them develop and nurture their skills. I enjoy the company of young children and, possibly because I am quiet by nature, they respond well to me. I am hard working, diligent, honest and reliable. I also pride myself on being a good timekeeper.
Hobbies and Interests
I am interested in Egyptology and Classical History. I love being outside and going on walks with my family and our dogs. I enjoy swimming and socializing with family and friends. I am also a volunteer with the Cleft Lip and Palate Association, taking children from nine years to fifteen on residential weekends so they can meet others like them and build friendships. I help to organize and implement the activities such as building camp fires, t-shirt painting, tag rugby, circus skills, and quizzes. My other volunteering roles as part of the cleft lip and palate association are being a lead peer supporter and part of the adult voices council.

Part time sole and shared care role with little boy 5 and 2 at the start. The little boy has Autism and ADHD, which has been a great learning experience opportunity for me. Some things help with school pick ups, preparing food and taking children to age appropriate activities.

Sole charge part time of two girls when I started they were 6 and 4months. Though the lock downs I would help with some of the school work or take the baby out for a walk so the baby could have a sleep and mum could concentrate on helping the eldest. I would also help with daily routines, doing activities, introducing bottle\cup feeding as the baby was exclusively breast feed. Now I do school pick ups and drop offs, set up play dates, take them to local parks and attractions.

April 2012 – September 2013
Childbase, Newbury
Nursery Practitioner
I have worked in all the different rooms of the nursery and have spent a few months with each age group. I have made strong bonds with the children and their families from all different situations, backgrounds, religions and cultures.
As I am qualified to Level 3, I am in charge of the room and make sure that the daily routine runs smoothly as well as helping train other staff. I am the key worker for four children while also having responsibility to care for up to sixteen children at different levels of development within each room. An important part of the role is to help smooth the transition for the babies and toddlers who are moving up rooms. I value making each child feel more secure in the new room to help them develop through their milestones through play and friendship.
Additional responsibilities include helping plan and provide activities for the room, focusing on the activities that will move children to the next development milestone, making observations that are linked to the EYFS and carry out four monthly progress checks on each key child.
General care of the children’s daily needs such as nappy changing, potty training, eating and naps. Each child has a daily diary which I complete with information including food details, nappy changes and any other notices. Following all policies and procedures set out by the nursery, I sign children in and out of the nursery and communicate appropriate information to parents including accident forms, medication and temperature, ABC behavior and incident forms.
I have looked after children with chicken pox, high temperatures, hand, foot and mouth, sickness, croup, extreme asthma and thrush as well as worked with children with preference diets; such as being lactose intolerant.
September 2010-September 2011
Nanny for Family, Kenilworth
I loved working with this two child family and adored my charge who I saw grow from a bouncing baby to toddler during my time with the family. I was privileged to work with the family during the time of a newborn’s arrival.
The role included sole charge of the older child and maternity nursing during the newborn’s arrival. I took on a shared care role with the new baby during mum’s maternity leave. I helped implement a feeding and sleeping routine for the new baby and at times took sole charge of the new baby to give the older boy continued 1:1 time with his parents. Mum and I worked as a team to care of both children during this transition time
Standard nanny duties included participating with the children in local play groups, swimming and other organised activities, planning activities such as walks, trips to the park, painting, cooking, water and messy play. I helped adjust the older child’s routine as he grew and changed his sleep pattern.
Regarding general nursery duties, I was responsible for organising the children’s washing, ironing and cooked all meals for the family, introducing them to lots of new foods. I also kept a daily diary which included what had been eaten, nappy changes, nap times, new words and what he had done through the day. If he had required any medication, I recorded the time and amount for his parents.
September 2008 – Present
Short Term Nannying
I continue to look after children ranging in age from 3 months – 11 years during my ‘off duty’ time from nursery. I help several local families with lots of ad hoc days, mainly at weekends. I am privileged in many cases to have become an extended part of the family.
When children are under my care I enjoy lots of creative activities such as painting, play dough and imaginative play. We play games outside and enjoy visits to the park. I also help with their homework and prepare nutritious meals when appropriate involving the children in preparing their food. Baking is a favorite activity of many of my charges. I have done overnight positions, ensuring the children are bathed, their teeth are cleaned and put to sleep on time. During weekday nannying I often take the children to school or activity groups.
